I couldn't give two cents if the hispanic population (and here they're talking about illegals) is declining or causing a slowdown in MINORITY GROWTH.

I could care less. Just like I could care less if the number of the Iranians coming here were to be keeping the Iranian population down IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Who says we're all suppose to have the same amount of nationalities here? An American is an American and all others who follow the laws of this country are welcome.
Why would I care if the Mexicans illegals are keeping huge hispanic birth numbers down (numbers I would equate to anchor babies that I would end up supporting anyway).

It's about LAW, not about RACE.

Passel said while the immigration shifts may be temporary depending on the length of the U.S. recession, some of the effects could be longer-lasting. He noted that fewer Hispanics coming in the U.S. could further slow minority population growth here, since higher fertility levels among Hispanics are driving much of the recent increases.

Why should we care? We should care because it's a GOOD THING to have fewer illegals coming our way.

Why should we care? We should care because it's a GOOD THING to have fewer illegals coming our way.I think it is good to have as few immigrants as possible legal or illegal coming our way because we cannot afford it!

Please don't misunderstand what I was trying to say. I'm AGAINST illegals.

That's very true. We need each and every job and the NEW wave of "immigrants" aren't proving to anyone that they are self sufficient.

Agreed. This could be one of the few positives of the recession.

Heck, you know something, there should be a think tank established to figure out a way to keep things barely running here...lol

Really though, we should have only built homes and stores and restaurants for the number of Americans we currently have. The building lately has been over the top and it's like "someone" knew a huge influx of "people" were coming.

I don't mind multicultures. I love variety, but everyone here or wanting to come here, should at the very least love what we are and shouldn't try to break in, then change us. All the while, they're demanding things that are unbelievable from us. It's crazy. I just, well, I'm shocked at them. WHO do they THINK they are?

The illegal immigrants are the WHO

The illegal immigrants are the WHOYeah they want healthcare, jobs, housing, etc. but then again they get that for free in their own countries the only difference is that we are doing better than Nicaragua, Mexico, etc.

As an American, it doesn't bother you that someone is saying (from the PEW) that because our country is suffering financially that isn't it a shame that all the "hispanics" from Mexico aren't going to be able to beef up thier minority population numbers?

Like we're suppose to feel sorry for them. Should I be saying, "SO Sorry that you won't be able to break into my country and have a ton of kids you can't afford and I shouldn't be forced to support, just to keep up those minority numbers."

Those minority numbers are what are helping to vote in more "hispanic" politicians who are always leaning towards benefiting "hispanics". Not ALL AMERICANS, as they should.

It drives me up a wall when things like this are said because they act like an illegal alien is no big deal. 10-20 million of them-no biggy, right. Some even say 40 million and the ones here aren't leaving in this recession btw.
Well, the big deal is the money used to pay for all the things they use here comes out of our pockets, us the taxpayer. We also lose out in things not being accounted for, like lost wages from being out of work when an illegal takes a job we could have.
Been to a motel/hotel lately? All illegals. McDonalds, Wendy's, hospital housekeeping, construction, etc...

I would love to know the real numbers of who is here and we should know who they are. Anyone else should not only NOT be here, but should sure as heck not be so bold as to march in our streets with thier flags, take advantage of our generousity, burden us with educating them and giving them medical care and all of the other things they recieve on our tab.
No one has to ask me to care. I'm smart enough to do it all on my own.

Until the country has a working fence, deporting the folks that are already here won't change anything.

We need to put the horse before the cart.

First, get a border that keeps folks out.
Then, deal with the illegals who are in the country.

Agreed. This could be one of the few positives of the recession. It happens during every serious recession. When times get tough up here, suddenly many of those jobs "Americans won't do at a reasonable wage" become appealing, if only temporarily.

All the while, they're demanding things that are unbelievable from us. It's crazy. I just, well, I'm shocked at them. WHO do they THINK they are?You need to do some serious thinking about the "benefits" of multi-culturalism.

When the people of a nation don't share language, culture, and national identity, they tend to either come apart from the inside, or end up held together only by totalitarian rule.

When the "melting pot" no longer produces a true blended metal, all you have are constituent materials (people in this case) that end up working for "group rights" rather than "individual rights" and work for "group interests" rather than the interests of the nation as a whole.

Drive through any "ethnic neighborhood" and you will see more often than not if only one flag is flying, it'll be the flaf of the "old country" and if both are displayed, the "old country's" flag will be of equal or higher prominance. That tells you that the home country's interests are just as important or more important to that group.

Nothing wrong with being proud of one's heritage but if this nation is going to remain something special and strong divided loyalties have no place.

I don't care if their numbers are dropping, their numbers makeup some of the "uninsured" in this country and giving Obozo a reason to try to cram universal health care down our throats.

Why do we care if illegals numbers are dropping?

We care because our expenses will go down. The burdens on our schools will decline. We won't have as many illegals having babies born in the US at taxpayer expense. It's all good.:D

You know, maybe this catastophic, economic disaster that we are in at the hands of our federal government was really a master plan to reduce illegal immigration.

Their contributuon to SEIU, La Raza, and others will go down. If those contributions go down then those organizations can't pump as much money into political campaigns.

My point exactly. Yay. I'm not crazy. I'm not the only person who feels this way. I love this Hannity website.
If you watch the news, you'd think we all are so thankful to the illegals for helping us somehow. The news is crap these days.

I don't believe a word of the article. I think someone is skewing numbers for some benefit...which I would only be speculating on.

I call BS on the whole premise that there is a decline.

And how would they know who was leaving? They're undocumented. Besides, it looks like most of the numbers that came from the article were from arrests. Who knows how many there were that weren't caught?

Before the housing crash here in Michigan, there were hundreds of illegals working cement and rough carpentry jobs. I had seen 20 or so just to do a driveway, porch, or a sidewalk for 1 home. Now there are none. You know the economy is bad when even illegals can not find work. It let you know just how bad a recession we are in. Call it the illegal economic indicator.

Interesting concept, but would you want people motivated to have their own business to say, "no, I can't open a restaurant here because the size of the population versus the number of dinner tables available already meets the quota?

I would also call it a crackdown on illegal immigrant criminal elements.
