Sources vary, but I find it interesting that the number one visited city on Earth is Las Vegas (my wholesome home), while number two is Mecca.
Funny what all this says about humanity today.
Anyway, just a thought to chew on a little.

Maybe it just shows that people would rather gamble than pray.....

The odds are better in Vegas.

They'll let anyone in Las Vegas, not so Mecca...
Yeah I go to Vegas a couple of times a year, never had any inclination to go to Mecca...

Hmmmm...visiting Vegas your assured of a decent room (complete with toilet and wash room facilities) air conditioning..which I would think is a huge selling point considering your in the damn desert....foods that have been properly prepared and chilled...and of course, great entertainment of your choice. What's not to like?
Mecca...hmmmm...let's see, burning hot temperatures with no hope of anything that even looks like air conditioning....food that is questionable at best....cramped surroundings with thousands of other 'hot' and odoriferous people trudging right along side of you....no entertainment, just fire and brimstone speeches....layer upon layer of religious offerings enough to make even a sane person run screaming for his or her life....the requirment of a dress code....hmmm...oh yeah...sounds like a great time. No thanks
and the question had to be asked why Vegas is number one visited place on the Earth? Hmmm...doesn't sound like even a close contest does it? Give me sin city or give me death! lol

It used to be a lot more until our glorious leader opened his big mouth.
Still a lot of fun to be had here..

Well each to his own but I'm pretty sure you're in a minority...

On this site, I'm frequently in the minority.
Mecca has much more historical significance than Vegas. Even before Islam it was the economic center of Arabia. The Muslim capture of Mecca is a major chapter in the history of the world's second largest religion.
I'm a history nerd, and that appeals to me. I would have no problem learning enough about Islam to fake it, grow a beard, and wear some nice robes for a few days in order to see one of the largest religious ceremonies in the world.
Vegas has gambling, prostitution, and Wayne Newton. I imagine I would have a very good time there. But it would be superficial, and I'd probably blow all my money on the craps table and strippers.

Wait...does this mean that Las Vegas is NOT mecca? Now you got me questioning my faith.
I guess I'll need to say 100 Holy Craps and play a thousand hands as penance.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Yeah but you would be helping the local economy, just keep telling yourself that and enjoy yourself....

Vegas has gambling...yes. Prostitution...yes, like many other cities where it is illegal (as is the case in Las Vegas)...Wayne Newton...yes. I know Wayne quite well. Nice enough fellow; WAY past his prime. :shhh:

You are quite correct. I apologize, my sentence was worded strangely. He said that Las Vegas had prostitution, to which I replied that it certainly does, as do many cities even though it is illegal there just like it is in Las Vegas.
It isn't legal anywhere in Clark county.

I thought prostitution was illegal in Vegas.
But all the cabbies know how to get you to where it is legal.

61 short miles from Vegas, a person kind find all the debauchery they are looking for.
