Any other folks who were kids in the 60s remember this show on Disney's Wonderful World of Color? It was shown over three Sundays, and it was so memorable (at least to me), that I could remember scenes from it over 40 years later, without having seen it since. Also, the theme song was burned into my memory too.
Just got done watching it on DVD, and unlike many childhood memories that don't hold up over time, it was simply fantastic, all over again.
The DVD contains two versions - the three-part miniseries that was shown on American TV, and the 90-minute theatrical version that was released in the UK.
It you remember watching this as a kid, I highly recommend the DVD.
Scarecrow... Scarecrow... The soldiers of the King feared his name.

I've remember watching the film, didn't realise it was cut from a longer series.
BTW. Dymchurch and the Romney Marshes are about 30 miles round the cost from where we live. The whole coastline has a history of smuggling, and as a kid I often played in the old smugglers caves.

Cool! The extras on the DVD pointed out that it was filmed on location in that section of England.
I watched both of the versions, and while the theatrical version moves faster, it obviously leaves parts out that add to the subtext of the plot. You should take a look if you get the chance. I found a copy at my library.
BTW, there was in interesting bit of trivia in the extras I never knew about. The reason why Disney shot so many movies in England in the 50s and 60s, was because after WWII, England was going through rebuilding, and they passed a law that any money made in the country must remain in the country. So, Disney responded to that by just spending the money he made in England on making movies in England.

Ah yes, I remember at primary school we went to St Mary's Bay for a week, the nearest town was Dymchurch, if memory serves there was either a miniature railway or some kind of reduced scale railway around the Dymchurch area...
Yes I remember Romney Marshes as well...

The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is brilliant, my kids love it.
