Having been born in Pennsylvania and living in Ohio for 25 years, I never ever thought I would start a thread with that title, but having lived in Michigan now for 7 weeks I can honestly say I have met some great people and truly enjoyed my time here. I'm up here for another year and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the area.
I'm living in the "downriver" area south of Detroit in a small town called South Rockwood. It's only minutes from the beaches of Lake Erie, there are great golf courses within minutes and it's still close to downtown Detroit.

Glad you are liking the area so far!
Most people tend to think Michingan=Detroit...but that could not be further from the truth. I tend to just say screw those people :D

You can buy booze in a gas station on a Sunday morning.

Actually you can't.
You can't buy alcohol legally anywhere before noon on Sunday. I think that's really stupid.
