Pardon the new screen name, but I’ve been mostly a reader of these forums for several years and it’s been so long since I’ve actually logged in I forgotten how I originally signed up and had to get a new User ID. I guess that's a byproduct of growing old!
The reason I wanted to post is this: Back in the fall, before the election, I was sitting on a bus next to an economist, or maybe he was a professor of economics, I can't really remember. I asked him, politics aside, which candidate did he think had the better economic plan for the country. His answer was very interesting. It went something like this: “Oh it doesn’t matter which candidate gets elected. Whoever it is will be put through an absolute blender for 2 years and then spit out in 4.”
After the election, I remembered what he said and decided to spend the next four years much like I do when riding roller coasters: holding on for dear life, eyes shut tight and screaming all the way down.
Now that we’ve had 6 months of the Obama administration and the new is starting to wear off a bit, are the poll numbers and some of his supporters saying "this isn't what we signed up for" a sign that Obama has found his way into that blender the economist talked about? And does this mean I can get off the roller coaster come 2012?
