I am visiting the Jimmy Carter Library in the next couple of weeks. Any tips on where to 'hang out' of an evening. I am based in the Virginia-Highland part of town which looks rather pleasant from the internet pictures.

Buckhead is the best place for bars and clubs.

My favorite restraunt is "The Atlanta Fish Market" on Pharr Road in Buckhead, followed by Maggianos Little Italy also in Buckhead.

I took my brother to the Carter Center several years ago and liked the Oval Office there.

Atlanta has a great Aquarium, Turner Field is great if the Braves are in town.

I've been gone from ATL for nigh on to 20 yrs., but at the time the place to be was Little Five Points. I think it's close to where you'll be.

Little 5 rivals Buckhead, for me it's better, because of the enormous traffic in the "Head". Plus, the Virginia Highlands are not far from Little 5 Points. Probably not many people know this, but when Sherman was told to burn Atlanta, he did his best. Little 5 was a very close area of Atlanta that didn't (all) get burned. That's why Little 5 has some very old homes that are still there. If you want to go where very old homes are in Atlanta, there aren't any, but for Little 5.
