Will Capitalism fail if executive bonuses are not paid?
Anyone who questions the payment of executive bonuses is automatically attacked as somehow being against Capitalism.
Is it true that the entire system will collapse if the executives are not kept happy?
Or is it true that questioning the paying of executive bonuses is against the rules of “conservatism”, and that “conservatism” is not genuine Conservatism?
And that the rules of “conservatism” are really written by those who plan on receiving executive bonuses for creating completely phony “wealth” in the form of Credit Default Swaps and Derivatives, and then skimming those accounts for their bonus money.
And that maybe there are quite a few “conservative” practices which benefit a few select individuals to the detriment of Capitalism, and that if genuine Conservatives label frauds as frauds, genuine Conservatism may have a future!

No it won't collaspe,it's eroding because of government intervention. We have crony capitalism where corporate and special interests is married to government, none of us are old enough to see free market capitalism.

Those in line to receive bonuses would certainly have us believe that. Just as those who've received tax cuts would have us believe that if the lose their tax cuts it will cost the rest of us more.

I think as long as bonuses are mostly tied to performance then there shouldn't be a problem. However, they first need to have regular pay that will keep them reasonably happy. After all, capitalism is about competition and the way you get top executive performers is by competing in the marketplace by offering high pay. Then the bonus should be the "icing on the cake" for going above and beyond.
If you follow those simple rules, then capitalism should not be hurt, in my opinion.

How does not paying big executive bonuses translate to higher taxes for the rest of us?

Will a root beer float fail if you remove the ice cream?
Yes, because it is no longer a float.
When the government tells business owners how much they can pay employees, we no longer have capitalism.
We have a hybrid system of some type.

When the government tells business owners how much they can pay employees, we no longer have capitalism.Such a simple concept, yet it eludes the left. Government is not free market.

Some people who work for a living get bonuses. It's an incentive for doing good work as well as an incentive to keep good people working in your organization. Good, bad, indifferent, that's the way it is. Capitalism will not die if bonuses are not paid...but what could happen is people may or may not seek employment at organizations whose pay structure is "regulated" in some way by Uncle Sam.

If people who sign contracts to get bonuses as part of their salary don't get them, yes, capitalism or more specifically the rule of law is dying. I agree that the bonuses are probably too much, but it's not for the government to rule on that. It's for the stockholders.

I don't believe there is any movement right now to get rid of the monarchy and it won't happen in my lifetime but one day, who knows?...
In my opinion (not one that is shared by the majority of Brits) the monarchy is an outdated institution which has no place in the 21st century but that's just me...

Yes, exactly, those MPs make me sick. They get their wages and then they claim expenses for a duck island!!.........WTH..........
And those bankers make me sick as well because they get well paid for scewing up their banks, get bailed out by the government and use the money to pay bonuses to the bosses who screwed up in the first place......
