Good grief it seems to never stop. When are these confused practitioners going to read the Qur'an and listen to their Imams (maybe they are, who knows??????)

AMMAN, Jordan — A Jordanian man stabbed his sister to death with a dagger in an "honor killing" because of rumors she was dating a man, a police official said Thursday.
.....
An average of 20 Jordanian women are killed annually in slayings that are known as honor killings because the perpetrators say they believe their actions will restore their family's community standing.
The government has battled the problem with harsher sentences for perpetrators.

He kills his sister over a rumor????? Sounds to me like he has just looking for any excuse to get her out of the inheritance pool.

There's no honor in a man hurting a woman.
Where I come from, there's honor in hurting the kind of men who would hurt women.

President Bush opened a can and poured it on the Taliban and Al Qaeda, but, it has not done much good. Those extremists are crazy 7th century neandrathals....
Furthermore, Honour killings is cultural and more common than one would acknowledge. When one disregards to rights of women and requires complete submission to an ideology, the problems multiply.

yet we have woman like cindy sheehan that rather this go on in the world than even try to do something about it. I know her loss was overwhelming...but he died doing what HE felt was right. Still cindy can not respect that or woman enough to support the war on terror.

Might be a bit more to this story then a un married sister 'dating' a man....the article stated the autopsy showed that she was pregnant. Perhaps that has a bit more to do with the supposed 'honor killing' then the issue of simply dating? Un-wed mothers don't fair well in the middle east.
What do the Imams say to do with these men who violate these women? We know the woman looses her life...what does the man loose? Anything?

I wanted to be sociable with any Muhammadans who are moderate and not throw the baby out with the bath water. Obviously those who prescribe to 7th century throw back practices are confused. We are now living in a a more civilized 21st century.
Peace,

Her son, bless his soul, was a proud and honorable serviceman who paid the ultimate price for God and Country. Cindy is ate up on leftism because of her loss. Cindy never fully recovered and found a constructive way to deal with her grief.
I feel very badly for Cindy and hopes some day she finds peace....

Many times the men get a free pass. It is unfortunately a male dominated society influenced by some radicalized insecure freaks.
