This is where my three year old grandson will be this Saturday, watching the fools ruin their machines.

Perhaps they are, but the participants in the unique local sport known as "lake-running," as well as the exuberant, lawnchair-and-cooler-toting fans who cheer them on, are expected to gather in great numbers at the 100-acre Baroda farm of Mark Schutze on Saturday, July 11, just as they did last year around this time, for the third annual NIMBY Pond Snowmobile Lake Run.

Todd Palin was invited to participate in the race. But he declined.

People use snowmobiles as an alternative to motorcycles in drag racing; there was a snowmobile race on 1,320 feet of concrete on Pinks at (Ennis) Texas Motorplex.

Snowmobile drag racing is common on pavement.

Amazing isn't it, how often a "Hold ma beer ya'll, an watch this!" moment turns into a "Sport".

This "sport" got started a few years ago when the snowmobile owners only got to use their machines about two weeks each year. Rather than just let them rust down in the shed, they decided to have some fun with them.

I watched the Smoking Gun's Worlds Worst Compentations where they had lawnmover racing. One guy had mounted a 35 hp engine on one of those pieces of tin they call a deck. It did not turn out so nice for him or the mower. :wall:

That's some stupidity right there.

Racing snowmobiles in the summer is nothing, how about racing lawnmowers in the winter.

I've seen kayaking in December.

Snow kayaking was put on by a local club (yes, I live in Phoenix but there actually are several ski resorts in Arizona nearly as good as Colorado has) and I opted out because I don't want to break either my kayak or my neck.

I think the snowmobiling in water is actually a tad crazier because while snow kayaking doesn't have any brake action to speak of, the snowmobiling on water doesn't even allow for thinking about putting on the brakes and steering isn't really an option either.
