hilarious song...about United Airlines.

the singer wrote a song to trash United, because they manhandled his $4000 Carroll guitar, breaking it when he traveled.
He complained and they would not fix it-- they said "NO".

Now the airline....after this video, is deciding to make things right!!
I can see why...
this song is headed for top 5 on both pop and country, I bet!

Good for him for finding a creative way to air his grievance and pressure United into making it right.

Just so you don't look foolish when you share this story elsewhere, Dave Carroll is the guys name. Taylor is the guitar (like he said in the song 3 times and again in the disclaimer at the end of the video), and it was a $3500 guitar.

:)) Funny video..but it makes me sad...Taylors are fine guitars...If the broken one from the video is the actual guitar there wasn't just tossing around, or if there was it was some might hard tossing. Guitars have a metal truss rod going up the center of the neck, so it was one hell of an impact.

United might find that they would have been better off just paying the guy for the guitar.

I'm reminded of the guy that had a bad experience at Starbucks.
He had bought an expresso machine as a gift for a friend,
but when the box was opened the machine was damaged.

He went back to Starbucks but they refused to do anything.

The guy started a website and called it starbuckssucks. com and
before long it was getting a lot of traffic.

Starbucks wound up giving him a bunch of money to make it go away.

Sometimes revenge can be quite satisfying.:))

You know, this is really for everyone that has ever flown regularly with any airline. Sooner or later you have crap service, broken or lost luggage and have dealt with that 'screw you' attitude.

I distinctly remember the shrugging shoulders and lack of eye contact when we flew back from seeing my FIL in Florida. Late at night with two tired kids and they lost ALL OF OUR LUGGAGE. I'm talking even my son's booster seat.

We came home with only our carryons.

Great fun.

This just proves that it doesn't take a lawsuit to make things right. Just common sense and creative thinking.

nice song.... :)) i am glad they did the right thing.

I'm glad for him they did the right thing but it is sad they wouldn't do anything till they get bad press about it. Since it is an expensive guitar I'm sure he let them know to take care of it before handing it over, plus I doubt they would let him carry it on due to it's size. They should have done the right thing to begin with. It shouldn't have been broken to begin with, it was in a case, it would have had a hard impact to do something like that.

Know you have me wondering though, if it was hit that hard in a case why wasn't the case damaged ?

Here's something else, as my husband noted, it was WITNESSED. Passengers saw them tossing the cases around outside.

Puts a slightly different spin on the 'normal risk' attitude of United. FLINGING instrument cases isn't 'normal', it's 'negligence'.

Don't get mad - get even!

This is one HILARIOUS song! And the video is even better! (See the chalk outline, the cup of coffee, and the two guys banging on the guitar case with hammers.)

The guy's really talented. I had never heard of him before. I bet his career gets a boost from this.

It breaks my heart, to see those luggage-handlers smashing a perfectly good guitar.

Isn't there a giant flea market somewhere where they sell all of our lost luggage??? Seems I heard about that somewhere along the way.

The crayon part struck me, Jeepers~ It punctuates the misery of losing luggage.

We've had similar experiences with American. They lost my husband's luggage twice. The first time, it showed up a few days later. They didn't call him, he had to call every day and check on it. When we went to retrieve it, it, along with a bunch of other luggage, was just strewn around a counter and some little chicky in an AA uniform was behind the counter, visiting with her friends on the other side of the counter. We could hear the conversation, they were talking about their night out the evening before... When hubby said that he'd come to pick up his suitcase, she just tilted her head toward the strewn luggage and continued her conversation. She never turned around to watch us as we picked up his suitcase, didn't ask for id or anything, we could have walked out of there with everyone else's stuff and I doubt that she would have noticed.

The second set of lost luggage never showed up, he had to buy new clothes to go to work when he arrived at his destination and then once he arrived home, he started calling to see if it had ever shown up, but it never did.

It's probably at that place in Arizona that sells off all of the lost luggage items. Which I find to be the most insulting thing! How is that not incentive for them to 'lose' people's stuff when they can make even more money selling it! I mean heck, they've already been paid for transporting it. What better way to improve their bottom line, right? http://www.unclaimedbaggage.com/

But did they give you pilot wings that you stick onto your shirt?

CARRY ON...carryon...CARRY....ON.

LOL

But indeed, my son had his tiny carryon that only had pretzels, a book, and some action figures in it. Is that pathetic enough?

Didn't add the rest of the story where my husband had put my car keys IN the luggage, which meant that we had to take a 50 dollar taxi home and break into our house at midnight.

Good fun that had nothing to do with the airline. It was a lovely trip!

When I was in my 20's I flew across the country to do a presentation. I had the presentation in a 24x36 portfolio case which was approved by the baggage department in Chicago. I was on the plane watching them load things when I saw one of the guys pull my portfolio off of the cart, bend it over his knee, and jam it into a bin going onto the plane. It was long enough before the flight took off and pre 9/11 so I got a flight attendant and told her what I'd seen and she got a gate agent and told the gate agent. Long story short, I got a "damaged luggage voucher" and was later reimbursed the expense of replacing the contents (in a hurry) and getting a new case. That was a long time ago and I am sure the days where airlines actually had customer service are long over. Whatever the case, I returned to my seat, got the baggage handler's attention and flipped him off. He didn't know why at the time, but I'm guessing he figured it out when the gate agent got a hold of his supervisor.

While the downturn can't be directly attributed to this song, this quote brought me a lot of joy
Meanwhile, within four days of the song going online, the gathering thunderclouds of bad PR caused United Airlines’ stock price to suffer a mid-flight stall, and it plunged by 10 per cent, costing shareholders $180 million. Which, incidentally, would have bought Carroll more than 51,000 replacement guitars.
