I recently started researching setting up a 529 for my newborn so we can begin saving for her education. Has anyone set one up? What should we look for in a plan?
I'm pretty confused at this point with all the options and differences between states.
Opinions, information, suggestions appreciated

Each State I think has their own primary 529 Administrator and this is,imho,a very good site..

Again, imho, Vanguard is the most trusted name in this field and their fees are low. Watch out and make sure your plan stays in the 1% range for fees. Other names to trust are T. Rowe Price and TIAA-CREF.
Here is another good site

I personally highly recommend one ,the earlier the better, imo.
Good luck.

They are good. We're currently investigating plans for our newborn as well.
Given that it's impossible to predict what things are going to be like in 18 years, just make sure you have the option to use the money for something other than education when the time comes.

If nothing else U.S. Savings Bonds are paying more interest now than can be made in the market, and the interest is tax free if used for educational purposes. Many states are having financial problems now, and if they go belly up no telling what will happen to their plans.
