Bought some 44 and 30 06 rounds along with some buckshot today, but just cause it's nearing hunting season and I wanted to beat the rush. Plus I wasn't sure if it'd be there for long because of everone arming to the teeth. It kind of ticks me off, the self fulfilling prophesy of ammo shortages when you tell everyone they have to go out and buy all you can cause it won't be around for long. What's that all about?

Yes and all unregistered so they can't come and take them away. I have a buddy in Iowa that could start his own militia. He doesn't have just a gun safe, he has a vault.

Or Zombie invasion, or alien attack, or any variation of doomsday scenarios.

Assuming you are meaning the general populace then you better have more/bigger guns than your neighbor.

Which brings up a question I have thought about: If something happens-whatever it is- Do folks think they will baricade them selves in thier homes and shoot through the windows until it's over or everything stops moving? Or is it gonna be a more organized "reaction" and the resistance will mount up and unify until it's over or everything stops moving?

Not at the moment. I spent the last weekend that I was off work, taking my wife and daughters to the range. We had so much fun that I'm almost out of ammo.

Great 4-8 more years of a Democrat is elected time to start the building a compound and form a militia this will mark the end of the world as the rest of America is going to revolt because the guy I wanted as president lost.

I've got guns, so what do I need lots of food and water for? If something happens, I'll just go take it off someone else.

Pretty much the way I see it.......I love the clowns who stockpile food and water but no guns......others will appreciate their efforts, though. ;)

Events don't have to be widespread to impact the security of you and your family. It should be pretty clear to people that some elements of society start preying on others when the lights go out and that water stops flowing out of the tap. Mother nature is not very predictable, we never know when a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, or wild fire will occur so people should take some basic precautions for themselves so that emergency responders don't get bogged down having to help people that aren't responsible for themselves.

Heck, I'm already on the porch, munching jerky and daring strangers to rush the house so as I can pop them with the Mossberg.

That might work in the big city but where I live would most likely get a person involved in a gun battle. Just about everyone owns a gun of some kind around here.

Same here, I live in a small town in central Oklahoma EVERYONE owns a gun. Shoot, part of the 4th of July's celebrations was gun fire!

No, because there will not be any "civil unrest." Who would do the civil unresting? It's only conservatives who are dissatisfied with the new Obama socialist government, and as everyone knows, they are wimps and at best can only manage to stage a few weak tea parties in protest.

Civil unrest -- Dat silly! Pffft!

I don't believe this. All of my wife's family are Dem's with only one that I would "label" liberal. All of them are dissatisfied with Obama...even the liberal to a degree.

Some of my Dem/liberal friends are not happy or just getting a hint of something that doesn't look right.

Nope, I'm prepared for emergencies that will actually have a possibility to take place. I have firearms and ammo for short-term emergencies, as well as food storage for short term emergencies (i.e. hurricanes and their aftermath).

Me and a couple friends on the Wolverines football team will get weapons provided to us from my father...who owns a sporting goods store. We will take to the mountains and defend ourselves from the tyranny of Cuba.

Yes. The Sako 300wsm and Swarovski 3-12x50 make a great combo. I'm no sniper but I think a 3 inch group at 500 yds is good enough. If you do make it inside, the pair of 1911's should be sufficient.
