I haven't had a Der Weinerschnitzel hot dog since high school, but I would put my money on Nathans. Even in the grocery store, it's the only brand I'll buy.
Lots of stinky bad dogs out there.

When I moved to Podunk Michigan in my junior year, the only "fast food" in town was Dog 'N Suds.
AKA Arf 'N Barf.
Aptly named.

Ordering a hot dog at a burger joint is like ordering Spaghettios at an italian restaurant.
At least have a Brat. With a Brat, at least there's large chunks of stuff that you can SEE, that are unidentifyable.

As far as the hot dog itself Nathan's is the best franchise delivered hot dog.
Sabrett isn't bad either.
Also it is unfair to compare a genuine bratwurst to a hot dog.
And if Der Weinerschnitzel is using a weinerschnitzel in their chili-dog they are playing in a different league that hot dogs.

We used to have the old A&W drive-in restaraunt. I was the odd duck when my dad took us. I wasn't big on hotdogs, even back then, so I would get a cheeseburger and I wasn't fond of Rootbeer, so I would get an Orange soda float instead of a Rootbeer float. I know, I know, I heard about it every time we went.
Now the only A&W we have is with Long John Silvers. It just isn't the same.

Exactly, done! No further entries please. I'm originally from Chicago and I was going to respond here with the statement that just about anyplace that cares enough to serve a Vienna pure beef dog, or a Best's kosher wins in my book.
Portillo's is the real deal though. It was my mom's favorite place (God rest her soul). And if you don't like dogs, try an Italian beef with sweet peppers and ask for it "wet". You will never eat a roast beef sandwich again.
2nd in my book but not by much is Superdawg http://www.superdawg.com/ .
Oh and the hand cut fries ain't bad either.

Bert's Quick Stop Folly Beach, SC. Make it yourself with Bert's famous chili (seasoned all day in a crockpot). At first glance, you think,"I would never eat something so disgusting!" But after eating the first with a mountain dew because of near starvation, you want another. Maybe this time put some nacho cheese and a couple of jalapeņos on it.

Yeah, they're pretty lame.
I'll eat one when I'm hungry.
They go good with a Java Chiller.
Chili dogs are a little too messy to eat on the run from a fast food joint.
I like to be standing over the sink when I eat mine:)
The best fast food chili dish is a Frito Chili Pie.
Dairy Queen used to make them.

Well thank you all so much for bringing up this topic
I haven't had a decent hot dog since I left Chicago 40 years ago. And that goes for the Italian Beef with peppers too.
There ARE no fast food hot dog places in the Dallas area that I am aware of with the exception of a place in Plano that "supposedly" has Chicago style dogs. I've never tried them but I suppose I ought to one of these days.
I won't eat chili that I haven't made myself. I like to know what's in stuff I eat.

I don't know.
Hot dogs don't have a particularly high fat content.
Chili can be greasy or not- it depends on how much grease you leave in it.
It's mostly lean meat and spices.

There are many quality "Hot Dog stands" around the country. But nothing compares to the Der Wienerschnitzel Chili Cheese Dog!
Just last Saturday I was on my way to pick up my niece and nephew from the airport when I found out their flt was delayed. BUMMER? NOPE! I made the best of my time and drove thru the Wienerschnitzel on Dyer Rd. and enjoyed!!

Maybe if you go glutin free, but who wants that?! I love my glutins. Add nitrates, by products and salt....mmmmm death on a plate with a side of wavy lays. :)
Seriously, I read somewhere that most dogs have 30% fat content, seems high.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good hot dog, or two or three. Just sayin' go hard or go home:)
