View Full Version : Do you boycott anything?

List of things I currently boycott:

Super Bowl - Too much emphasis on everything but the game... to overhyped, too commercialized. Have boycotted since 2000

NFL Draft - Boycott for the same reason as the Super Bowl. Overhyped and too commercialized, rarely will a player taken during the draft make an impact the next season yet ESPN and sports media treat this event as the holy grail of all sporting events. Have boycotted since 2004

Megan Fox - Due to her comments on Middle America. Have boycotted since 2009

Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, Ellen DeGeneres, Janene Garafalo, Gwenyth Paltrow - Anti American scum

Family Guy - Repeated assaults on conservatives and Christians, have boycotted since 2008

T-Pain - All his songs are the same only worded differently. "I see a hot girl in a bar/club, want to make love to her, get drunk, make love to her" Have boycotted since 2007

Chris Brown - Due to his assault on Rihanna. Have boycotted since 2009

Sonic Drive In - Got food poisoning have not been back since. Have boycotted since 2004

Chik-Fil-A - Got food poisoning have not been back since. Have boycotted since 2006

Fuzzy's Taco Shop - Got food poisoning have not been back since. Have boycotted since 2006

Ben & Jerry's - Backed by communist hippies. Blue Bell is better anyway. Have boycotted since 2008

List of things I currently boycott:

Megan Fox - Due to her comments on Middle America. I saw Transformers before I heard about this. Will boycott from now on.

Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, Janene Garafalo, Gwenyth Paltrow, Denzel Washington, Wanda Sykes, anything by Micheal Moore

Family Guy - Never watched it since the first episode. It was an unfunny ripoff of the Simpsons. It's a boycott of sorts.

Ben & Jerry's - Backed by communist hippies. Blue Bell is better anyway. So is Bryers.

NBC - I originally boycotted them due to their horrible treatment and subsequent ruin of the game of Arena Football, but David Letterman and Keith Olbermann are reasons to keep going. Boycotted them since about 2003.

The State-Run Media - Totally in the tank for Obama. Haven't watched a second of it since the elections. Boycotted since 2007. I miss Robin Meade but hey, we all have to make sacrifices.

Best Buy - They sold me the wrong piece of equipment and because it was electronics they wouldn't take it back. The manager didn't care one iota and I told him I would never ever buy from them again. I haven't. Boycotted since 1995.

American Automobiles - No union or union worker will ever get a cent from me if I can avoid it. Japanese cars are much better built anyway. Last US car bought=Used Ford pick up (1995) in 2001

Obama's Speeches - Can't stand to hear his voice. Lies lies lies.

The only thing I boycott, which is more that I simply avoid going there unless absolutely necessary (which is never) is Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart killed all of my favorite stores. :(

Brilliantly, I'll admit. But they're all dead nonetheless.

May Crownings at my local church.

Church politics stole my earned spot as the boy that would crown the statue of Mary. Didn't go to that one in 5th grade I think it was, and haven't been to one since.

Ben & Jerry's - they spoke at my graduate school commencement and really turned me off. Thirty minutues of them bashing capitalism and the US. One of my fellow graduates yelled "capitalism made you bastards millionaires".

Citgo - no need to pad Chavez's pockets.

That's about it.

Sony - Their proprietary technologies and strongarm tactics to get their products standardized have ticked me off since the Betamax.

Nike - Sweatshops & non-use of the American workforce while pricing their products at inflated levels

Veal - Can't do it (maybe a schnitzel every year or two ).

I also only buy free-range chicken. What can I say, I like chickens. :)

Since 2004 I have not bought Heinz Ketchup...and started buying Hunts.

Mostly because of Ta-ray-sah Heinz Kerry's comments about how Laura Bush never held a real job.....shows how below her she thinks librarians are...I am not cool with that.

Oh yes...and after reading TC's list...I am reminded about veal. Won't eat it...and have stopped eating Schnitzel as well.....which is tough..I love a good Weiner Schnitzel...

I avoid them too, but not for getting sick from their food - rather for their sick commercials.

I also skip Carl's Jr. If I'm going to eat sloppy food then it had better at least be a good sloppy food.

Yep, that it. But it was used extensively long before Cher's Believe. The technology is over 50 years old and its been used by musicians clear back into the early 70's by performers such as Pink Floyd, ELO, Alan Parsons, Frampton, Styx, Prince (a little later), etc.

Their "food" is vile.

Their commercials are even worse.

If I happened to be walking by a location shoot for a BK commercial and that dude was there in the King suit or that punk jerk was there in the burger suit, and I just happened to be on my way home from the Flame Thrower Shop with my latest purchase, well I just can't say what the next days headlines would be.

I never got as sick from BK food as you but I did get that sick from a mushroom Swiss burger at Jack in the Box in Phoenix many years ago, I haven't officially decided to boycott Jack, and I have liked some of their commercials but oddly I have never been back to one of their restaurants since the mid 80's.

I actually think some of the Quiznos sandwiches are OK. But the innuendo in the talking oven commercials is sick - but then Quiznos has always had weird commercials.

Those talking oven commercials are all the more horrible in light of the back room activities, like bathing in sinks and such that low life employees keep posting on Youtube.

I have only gone to Quiznos 1 time since their Franken Rat commercial and that was a mistake but I was willing to give them one last chance.

Their food was nasty, the service was bad, the price was ludicrous.

It was only about 1:45 in the afternoon and they were out of two of the items I ordered.

What is that crap BK puts on its fries? Shellac?

I think BK secretly pretends to be one of these recycling companies (you know the cooking oil to bus fuel type) that take McDonald's and other Choke & Puke joints oil off their hands for free, then they run it through a used nylon to filter out the McNugget bits then bottle it up and distribute it to their restaurants.

As for Jane Fonda, it is not her views that cause me to boycott her (although I find them detestable), it is her ACTIONS. She went to North Vietnam and happily allowed herself to be photographed sitting in front of an antiaircraft gun. This is giving aid and comfort TO THE ENEMY! I boycott boycotts.

There are some places that I don't do business with for various and sundry reasons, dont care for their products or like the competitors better, that sort of thing.

Now some businesses lose my business because of their advertising. I find it distasteful, annoying, or they just don't appear to be interested in my business.

McDonalds for instance, I prefer the food at almost every other burger chain to this one. Their advertising isnt going to get me to change my opinion, I am not part of the hip hop demographic.

Sonic, geeze their commercials are stupid enough to keep me away from there into the next melennium.

Local car dealers. I wouldnt buy a new car from any of them if they were selling them for a buck seventy five. Just because of the advertising.

Free range veal kind of destroys the whole point of veal. :)

Having grown up around Pennsylvania dairy farms and working for years in the agribusiness industry it just is second nature. I used to feed milk to the veal calves as a kid.

I half heartedly boycott some celebrities that spout things I don't agree with. If they are in a movie I want to see, I'll usually go see it in spite of my dislike for them personally... the Dixie Chicks though, I never liked anyway, so my boycott of them is strong. :D
