He gave that yob a good thrashin', what he did, and still had time for a spot o' tea and CORONATION STREET on the tele.

How is it that throwing a knife at an old man racks up a mere charge of aggravated burglary and not attempted homicide? Is a knife not a deadly weapon in Britain?
A 4 year sentence doesn't seem like even a fifth of the sentence the assailant deserves.

Too true. With time of for "Good behaviour" we'll be lucky if he serves half that sentence.

Just think of the humiliation the thug will be subjected to when word gets out in prison that he was soundly thrashed by a 72 year old grandpa.

Well, considering that the perp Gregory McCalium was employed as a barman and is now a documented violent drunk, I really wonder what his resume' is going to look like when he gets out of prison at 29 years old.
He's got plenty more sentence to serve. He's pretty much just wrecked his already lousy life. Employment opportunities for drunken violent bartenders who throw knives around are probably slim to none.

Before messing with old men, it helps to know what kind of young men they were.

At least he'll be spending most of his baby-making years surrounded by his boyfriends.

The old guy still must have a pretty good punch. According to the report he only hit him twice, yet the thugs face looks like he was trampled in a wild stampede.

I'm never making the mistake of calling a Marine "former" Marine again. I'll call 'em Leatherneck, Jarhead, and even Navy Cargo and that's okay, they'll just call me a Squid or Fleetie back but there's no such thing as a "former" Marine. Once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine. Calling a Marine "former" is a good way to get a Jarhead ticked off. To paraphrase an old saying, you can take a man out of the Marines but you can't take the Marines out of the man.
The Navy was easier. We never had to dig foxholes in the ocean.

Yeah, I know the old 'Once a Marine always a marine' bit........but he's not an active duty marine at 72, and I don't know if he was a retired marine or not..........let me know the proper nomenclature for the situation and we'll modify it. ;)
