I haven't flown post 911, and was curious if they lightened up on some of the rules or not.

Yes, but the bottles have to be less than 4 oz. In addition, you need to put them in a ziplock bag.

Yes, but the bottles have to be less than 4 oz. In addition, you need to put them in a ziplock bag.
And hide them in a body cavity.

If you check your bag it's business as usual.
If you carry on, all liquids, gels, and creams have to be "travel size" and placed in a 1 quart ziploc bag. You'd be amazed at how much you can stuff in a 1 quart ziploc.
Oh, and if you use asthma inhalers and similar items, they must be in the ziploc as well.
And, whatever you do, have the ziploc in an easily accessible place - outer pocket of your suitcase or in your purse - so that you can quickly place it on the conveyer.
