Scary stuff! Due to my knee and back issues, I can't mow the lawn so we have a local guy do it. He discovered the leak.
The gas meter at my home was probably installed when the house was built in the fifties.
Over time, a horizontal pipe near the ground rubbed against the vertical pipe in which there are wires for the meter — I guess — and it created a hole.
PSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Duke Energy shut off the gas and we're waiting for the plumber to come out this evening to install a new horizontal line. Duke's installing a new meter tomorrow.

A representative from the Obama administration will be there shortly to give you your carbon emission tax bill.

Glad to hear it was found without incident and is being taken care of.

I'll personally boot his butt back to D.C.

Thank you. :) You can bet we're happy. The repair bill was $343.

Thank you. :)
Our neighbors will be relieved, too. If the lawn care guy had been smoking near the leak...
