I don't really care if some people wish to trash me behind my back. Join my students, workmates when I louse something up, my wife, my children, and the dog.
As far as the attacks on the Masons go...they provide more free publicity to the World's oldest secret society than anyone could ever afford to buy and scare away only those of certain religious perspectives. The number of hits you get off of the subject on the internet is insane. A 300 year old esoteric society to encourage brotherhood and millions of internet posts? Insane.
When is the last time you heard a raging debate about the Odd Fellows (a wonderful and worthwhile group, btw)?
Any way, we are asked not to cast our pearls after swine, nor to argue with those who hate us. Does it bother me that people feel free to make up the most absurd lies and preach them as Gospel? Yes. But I'm hard to offend.
But life goes on and young men have been knocking at our doors in larger numbers than they have in 40 years in part because of all of the free publicity.
