Things like this happens when mega stars die, I remember where I was at the moment the news came on about Elvis's death and all these years later, people go on a pilgrimage to Memphis on his birthday and the anniversary of his death,it's like the town's number one tourist attraction.

I can understand the family wanting a 'second opinion'.

Thinking about an autopsy on Michael Jackson....
I have a vision that it would be something like Chevy Chase slicing into the
Christmas turkey on National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

It's not so much a second opinion, it's the idea that you can find out your OWN results without having to wait for the 'official word' which can take a helluva lot longer. No red tape and channels, just big information, quickly and unfiltered.
What they don't get from that though, is all of the results of the investigatory work from the DA's office. For that, they're still going to have to wait.

I have no doubt the autopsy is going to conclude it was death by accidental overdose of opiates........It was my guess immediately upon hearing he died. People of his character and temperament (i.e. looney) who die suddenly almost ALWAYS die as the result of prescription drug use (abuse).

Autopsies not mandated by law are paid for in full by the next of kin. So your point is, well... pointless.

True, but microscopic and toxicology reports still take time. I doubt a private autopsy is going to provide those results any faster.. or not by much.

With paper "fiat" money destined to become worthless, I tend to agree. Nothing beats good, solid survival supplies as the barter goods of the future.

Obamacare will not allow a second opinion. This will be the last second opinion performed in America. Perhaps it will be the last autopsy too. Obama doesn't care if we die, so why find out why we died?

Isn't that the death spiral of Obamacare to begin with?

The drug cocktail that I saw described made me think of Elvis. I think they may be looking at the doctor in this. A lot of money was to be lost if he didn't make the upcoming tour, a lot of pressure to keep him healthy. It looked a little like a drug "hail Mary" to try to keep him going.

Only if "the next of kin" is part of the obama royalty. The little people ie., common folk that will be forced into the obama care will NOT get the option to request such medical procedures.
If you think you have the money to afford such a request then you have not filed your income taxes correctly and you will be audited.

He just never fully got over the taunts from his father about his nose and skin and all those beatings he got as a boy, his other brothers as well...probably his sisters too. Michael continued his fathers beatings, by mutilating his face, and if what you "guess" is true, then he continued his parent's abuse by overdosing.

The official toxicology report is 6 weeks away. The 2 autopsy will show nothing more unless they can get another tox report back in less time. It funny watching the media try to solve this death before hand...

I was also a big Elvis fan as were millions of others of my generation, so I can understand this generation's feelings for Michael Jackson.I must admit I, like many others looked at Michael Jackson as a total freak---- but upon further reflection I now understand the man was suffering from a serious mental illness called "BDD" (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) and it started at a very early age. People with BDD have a warped physical image of themselves---when they look in a mirror they see an ugly person. The old man Joe Jackson used to ridicule his kid's wide noses and was physically and verbally abusive. Many kids can overcome this abuse but many can't.
When we're kids we look up to our parents like they're some kind of God and usually do whatever we can to please them. When that admiration and adoration is rejected and is met with physical or verbal abuse it can have devasting lifetime negative effects. So,the real lesson here is for parents---be very careful of how you treat your children.

Yup.
Opiates will do that for ya, as the King of Rock-n-Roll also found out.
