There hasn't been a fair debate on this either - 20 minutes is not fair. Has anyone read the bill on line that should be available for some time before it's voted upon as promised under the guise of "transparency?"

Did it. Durbin is my senator so I doubt he'll get the message. i wouldn't be a bit surprised if he is invested in these schemes somehow in light of his insider trading before the collpapse.

Keep em comin people! I've tried since a few times and the phone just rings - it's lunch there though (12:00), so maybe the interns aren't manning the phones. Or...they could be pulling a "Kennedy" and just not answering them at all since "conservatives" are polluting the phone lines.

Just got thru to Durbin's office. Regarding Cap & tax, the staff member said durbin has not come out "in favor" of it. When I asked if that meant he was "against it", he said he had not stated his position about it. Spin.

In a coal state, Durbin will bankrupt us even more if he approves this. Least I got thru. YAY!

i just sent this e-mail to Durbin because I can't get through to Springfield or Chicago.

I am getting really ticked off !

Dear Mr. Durbin,

I am writing to urge you to vote NO on the Employee Free Choice Act scheduled to come before you on Friday, June 24, 2009.

There is nothing "free" or "choice" in this legislation. YOU know it and I know it. Or is it the case Sir, you have not bothered yourself to even read this Bill as was the instance in both TARP and the so called stimulus bills?

The US Chamber of Commerce also strongly opposes this Bill and for good reason. It will only serve to benefit the growth and power of the unions in this country, not "WE the People" whom YOU work FOR Sir. It will only serve to allow for the unions to continue to bully and shakedown private business for their wants and whims while nicely padding their coffers and screwing the blue-collar workers out of their pensions. I am QUITE certain YOU are keenly aware of this as well. YOU are from Illinois after all.

As I am quite certain you are also keenly aware, the SEIU is one of the most corrupt unions in US history. Why would anyone who says he represents and SERVES the People of this great State and of this Nation support this blatant corruption by giving this entity more power?

Allow me to answer my own question if you will. One who says he serves in the best interest of We the People would only give a yes vote if he is indeed intent to serve only himself and I am QUITE certain you are KEENLY aware of this as well.

Please pass along this message to your ilk on the Hill; We are watching you. We are demanding you begin to do your duties to SERVE We the People and fulfill your obligation to protect and defend the Constitution of these United States of America. The days of apathy and silence are over Sirs and Madams. You have been fairly forewarned.

Regards,

XXXXX XXXXX

Taxpayer and INFORMED VOTER

Another lame attempt at ridicule.......... color me REAL surprised.

You got a problem with Americans voicing their opinions to their SERVANTS and doing their duties as a concerned citizen or what?

Rhetorical question btw.......... it was already answered.

You missed the point of my satire. I was building upon an interpretation of Sknylov's post that made the OP sound much akin to an infomercial.

I was not ridiculing political activism, but rather the way that it was presented on the forum. There! I showed you that your rhetorical question was NOT answered by its own asking! :D

Point taken sorry, just a little defensive today. This legislation is dangerous and the ridicule as I may have mistook it is totally uncalled for here. We have a govt run amok and fast becoming despotic. Then what?

Do we fight standing on our feet or do we submit and merely exist on our collective knees?

Not rhetorical btw.

I am familiar with the policies there. The taxes on plasma tv's, fuel and so forth. tell her not to fret though, we are headed that way and things will be fair from now on.

I am all for the political activity of regular citizens in their local, state and federal governmental systems. Calling a senator and congressman is an excellent idea, though I think that the organization of petitions and/or blog postings would give much more of a coordinated impact.

Having said that, in order to compete with the lobbyists that are really controlling the vote, you'll have to travel to Washington.

Oh Oh ...you're response might be.

Please address me as Senator I've worked really hard to achieve this position. It got me so mad I couldn't read the rest of your letter. :))

Seriously though I think it is great you took the time out to let your senator know how you feel.

I thought of Boxer and her crudeness when I was writing this. I decided I wasn't going to give them the air of superiority just because of their positions. They are so full of themselves they honestly believe that the title senator commands respect. What they don't realize is that in the mainstream phsyche it automatically denotes mistrust and suspicion.

I hope my efforts, however small aid in adding to the numbers. That's the ONLY way these people are going to get the message. About 30 million strong would do the trick.

Well these idiots are starting to push my buttons. I may just have to do that one day. For now, it is more feasible for me to visit their home offices and get face to face with these deaf corruptocrat thugs.

During the recent hearing, Hatch asked expert witness Anne Smith, Practice Leader of Climate and Sustainability of CRA International, this simple question: “Do you believe that implementing a cap-and-trade program or a carbon tax would result in net job losses?” She gave him a simple answer: “yes.”
...
During her testimony, Smith stated:

“The precise level of U.S. emissions will not affect climate risks in any quantifiable way if they are on a general track towards near-zero emissions. This is particularly true because global climate outcomes over the next century will be determined by controls on developing country emissions much more so than by a few percentage points of difference in U.S. emissions during the next couple of decades.”

After the hearing Hatch stated, “How can responsible policymakers move forward on important new programs without a serious cost-benefit analysis? I find it hard to believe that congressional Democrats and the Obama administration would be willing to force all this hardship on our people and our nation’s economic health for the promise of a nine-hundredths-of 1-degree reduction in the climate. They must be living in the twilight zone if they believe this is what voters want.”
And yet it moves forward.

This is NOT about climate change or what is good for this country.... it is about control.

Same for card check,

Same for health care.

They know what they are doing won't do what they say it will, but they also know that most of the voters in this country haven't a clue as to what is going on.... they just hear free, fair, and green.

We deserve what we are going to get. Maybe sometime in the next 10 years we can look back at this chapter in history and see it as the turning point where the Government went too far, and people started to open their eyes...

Or it might be that other chapter,

Chapter 13.

The heat index is over 100 degrees in the Chicago area again today (yep, unfortunately, I live in the Great State of Chicago Thug Politics, too...Illinois). I hope all of you who are gullible enough to "love" Cap 'n Trade also love sweltering in this heat - the choice will come down to paying for your mortage, buying food to feed your kids, or air conditioning in the hot summers. Who can afford a $3000 a year increase in Utilities costs just to pay for a moronic idea of Global Warming?!?! We ALL know the money is to fund the reelection of the Obama...and for CONTROL!!!
