Ya know...I would have this opinion...but they are the ones who made it our business...when you are on a reality show...you invite people into your lives, plain and simple.

They make $75,000 an episode. Plus they have gotten free vacations to the Outer Banks, Utah, Disney World, Hawaii....they also get free stuff all of the time. Hell..Jon and Kate both just got free bikes from the Chopper guys. Plus the freebies they get that are involved in product placement. They moved into a $1.1 Million house....not sure if the show paid for any, or all of it, or not though.

They have 8 children, so the show's name is "Jon and Kate Plus 8". A couple of our patients watch it and I get the "pleasure" of getting all of the details of what is happening in their lives.

Fame is what did them in. Were they not on TV, the paparazzi would have followed him to take those pics. Don't know if they were having issues before then.
No surprise that despite their personal issues, the show must go on......and the $75K per episode.

Shows money doesn't buy happiness. They were happier broke.

There is more than enough blame (IF blame is even the right word) to go around here. If this was a multi choice, I would have picked Kate, Jon, and the money (greed). Throw in there the fans that were telling each one of these people how bad they were being treated, asking how they could live like this, questioning every move and it was bound to blow sooner or later.
I have to admit, that I do like the keeping the children in one house and letting the parents do the alternating for a change. At least they are trying to keep some stability, even IF it is to make it easier to continue taping the show.
Bottom line here, we have NO idea what goes on behind the cameras.

If you read Kate's SIL's sister's (did ya catch that ) blog, they were never totally happy and this isn't anything new. They were not the loving couple they were portrayed to be from the start. I stumbled upon that the other day. To bad she didn't keep the posts from Jodi up about what was really going on behind the scenes. I never got to read them, but I bet they were interesting.

I think there are far too many reasons why their marriage failed. The first and foremost one in my mind? Modern day American Marriage arrangements.
Men and women have FAR too many ideological differences based on their wants and needs in our society to coexist in permanent monogamous relationships for 50-60 years consistently (assuming marriage at ages 30-20 and life expectancy of ~80 years of age).
Having said that, if marriage works for you and your spouse, you have my every respect for your commitment. If your marriage has failed, or might fail, then you have my every sympathy. I'm still not convinced that the costs of marriage outweigh the benefits for ME, personally.

I think there are levels of happiness. Sure her nagging may have gotten old, but you can DEFINITELY see a distinct difference in his countenance in the earlier shows to now.He smiled more, joked more, and yea, he even looked into her eyes the way a husband does when he loves his wife. No marriage is without their flaws but you can tell that they at least loved each other somewhat(at their own admittance). So while they may have never been blissfully happy, they appeared happier than they are now, lol.

Can someone tell me who the hell Jon and Kate are? I keep seeing their names on the tabloids in the checkout aisle. At last something I can agree with you on. I gather they have some kind of reality show and they have a bunch of kids. Now what makes that worthy of having your own TV show, I do not know. Additionally, why anybody would be hanging on the drama of this couple's lives I REALLY do not know.

I should have been more clear in what I wrote. I was talking about how this whole thing has been going on for some time and didn't just happen in the last few months. I didn't mean to imply that they had never loved each other or got along just that this whole break up has been pretty much a given for some time and people around them daily knew that. I even made a comment here once about how they both needed to look at some of their old episodes and see how they have changed. They were much different "back then" and actually tried to communicate and do what needed to be done even if Jon was always doing it "wrong".
The minute they made it about the money, and the "business" and not about just following what they do on a daily basis "for real" they got off track. What they should have done it say screw this season and got out and worked on their marriage before saying it's done. I don't think they took they time to do that.

The money changed them both, but I think Kate pushed Jon away to the point of having an affair. You could see he checked out of the marriage a while ago.
It takes two to make or break a marraige, and they were both wrong.

[QUOTE=super cool ski instructor;56619831]They make $75,000 an episode.
I just read an article that states they shot 40 episodes for this season. At 75k per episode, that's 3 mil. I don't know how many seasons this show has been on or whether they started off at this rate.
Some of the guilds are angry at reality TV overall because there are no guild writers (the editors shape the material) and there really isn't guild talent. So no unions and no union talent means that these shows are very cheap to produce - 75k a show for your talent is great money by my standards, but dirt cheap in comparison to what was paid to the cast of shows like Seinfeld or Friends after a handful of seasons.

Why isn't there an "all of the above" option?
ETA: All of the above except the top one and I would have changed the Kate one to say "Kate is too critical, bossy, and currently puts money ahead of her family and marriage."

Kate's brother and Jodi are the least reliable of all parties here, they didn't get any money, and they were angry, so they made statements to radar online, who payed dearly for those statements.

Jon is to blame, he had an affair, and he is the one moping around. He wants the 23 year old, I said it before, he's no longer interested in being married, he wants drive the g/f around in the new sports car, and hang out at the bar. He's finding himself.
He cheated, he lied, he is shameless and he is selfish. He doesn't give a rat's ass about anybody but himself.

It takes two to make a marriage work. It is very easy to place 100% of the blame on one party in a marriage, but it takes two to make a marriage work. I think Jon is an absolute turd, but I also think Kate has her fair share of blame in this mess as well.
