I go on another forum which is for hippies, young and old. There's an even mix of older folks upwards of 40, even to their 70s, and a great deal of young people aged 18-25. The irony of it being while most of them are hippies, most also INTENSELY dislike Obama. They believe him to be a very poor president, some even feel he's a puppet of sinister interests, and refer to him by many of the same nicknames I've seen here (like Obozo, O'Bama, The One). A lot of the hippies there also seem to be very conservative in political outlook and trust the federal government very little. And many of these are old hippies who were part of the original late 60s movement.
It's just ironic as I've noticed it's more often conservatives or conservative minded folks mocking hippies than anyone else.

I think they evolved into two species: The libs of today, and those that you mention: the ones that woke up and are saying "What was I thinking durnig the 60's??!?"
Are these guys conservative or libertarian, or a mixture of both?

I'd def say a mixture of both. There's a strong conservative presence as well as libertarian--I've noticed very few neo-cons and very few liberals in comparison.

The 'older' so called Hippies are Kennedy Democrats...which in turn became Regan republicans...(As Regan himself started off as a Dem)which then in turn became Clinton Dems. Once Clinton was gone...that's where many of them got off the train so to speak.
Bush, Obama does scare the living you know what outta them..and for good reason. Both went way off the reservation in their policies...The only difference being Bush had too due to 9/11...and Obama does due to the ubber lib invasion of the House.
'Kennedy Democrats' are more conservative then present day Democrats. My Mom as an example..she's in her late 60's, registered as a Dem since she was old enough to vote...still 'thinks' she a Dem...yet has the ideology mind set of a conservative Independent. She's pro life, for small government, strict foreign policies and hands' off domestic policies. She's for smaller welfare roles and stronger restraints on government control over small business with iron clad strength over large corporate business within their taxes.
Todays' younger democrats don't match up at all in comparison to their older counter parts. Although many so called younger dems aren't truly dems...they range from pure socialized policies to Utopian ideals that beg for pure government control over the population....they have no other party to attach themselves too.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say most of the country doesn't fit neatly into a two party system anymore. Both parties have become bastardized version of what they once where.
