View Full Version : It's never enough...

O.K. so our political hacks pass something called an apology for slavery. Before going on I must be upfront and admit that slavery was a bad bad thing. It was quite a few years ago but it still was bad. Now on to my point...

It appears that we are going to spend the rest of the time that Earth exists trying to repair or undo the "injustices" of slavery. So far there have not been enough apologies, affirmative action acts, etc. I suppose that if we were able to give $1,000,000.00 to each person who was ACTUALLY directly affected by slavery, who is still alive today, that still would not be enough.

So, why don't we try another approach? I know this approach will shock some of you who have been indoctrinated in the gubment education system. But maybe this will be a teachable moment. There is a group of people, right here in America, who have been forced to suffer the most hardship and neglect, yet, we hardly hear a peep out of them. Who? The Native Americans. They have gotten the shaft for hundreds of years, yet, we hardly hear them complain at all. Well, they do get spun up when a political hack convinces them that the Washington Redskin mascot is offensive. If you know ANYTHING about real American history you know this group of people have been given the shaft, BIG TIME!

So, next time we hear about reparations or apologies for slavery, why don't we suggest putting the people who "demand" this in a little plot of land in a remote part of America, maybe in a desert area where it is hot and dry, and build them a little shack and let them have a Casino and all will be good. Right? It seems to have worked for some, why not all who feel "wronged" by America.

I'll ask the same thing I asked in another thread. Why does lifting someone up necessarily mean you must hold another down?

You rarely hear about Native Americans because they are dying out. It's a smaller population and a very different scenario from blacks.

Reparations is one thing, but an apology? Why does that get your proverbial goat?

Our government can apologize until they are blue in the face.

I don't have anything to apologize for. Not now, not ever.

Damn fine post by plsd.

I add only...an apology for that era of stupidity should have come from those who made the laws or enforced the laws....however, most of them are dead. That someone stepped up and openly acknowledged the plight of African Americans and their treatment should be applauded. To date this have been done several times by our leaders.

Japanese, African American, and recently Native American's have heard heart felt apology. So who apologized and what were they apologizing for that just recently happened? I must have missed something yesterday?

Looks like a non monetary apology? As I had thought, the article mentions the several apologies in the past that have been made. So what makes this one so significant?
