Now that I have your attention...

Federal Wildlife and Aviation agencies and the City of NY have killed 800 Canada Geese from areas around Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports and plan to cull another 1200. After the near disaster of the US Airways jet, officials decided this was the best way to reduce goose strikes around the airports. Good move, but I bet we have not seen the last of this story... the Environmental Wackos and Bunny Huggers are sure to file a law suit to attempt to stop it. After all, what is the loss of a couple of hundred humans compared to 2000 geese.

Airplanes aren't the only things those geese destroy. My borther-in-law was driving a Peterbilt hauling a 60,000 pound load when one flew into the front of his truck. Ended up with a five car pile up and $35,000 damage to the truck. No deaths but several serious injuries.

I hit one with my Chev Nova once while driving through the Allegan Game Perserve. The bird got up and flew off, leaving me with $900 damage to my car.

Depends where you are, if you are cutting wood in the bush in Manitoba where the blackfly and mosquitos have a landing strips the winter is a welcome relief, unless you were dumb enough to try and lick the frost of the goal post

And yet Fabio suffered no damage:D

If you don't mind your every move and action being controlled by the government. I have a friend who loves to fly in and hunt in northeren Canada. He has his own plane and a gun collection the army is envious of. But he can't take either into Canada on his hunting trips. He must rent the plane to fly to the camp sites, and he has to rent the guns to hunt with from Canadian citizens.

That is not having your every actions controlled by the government that is a matter of security, I am sure if he got the proper permits for all things it would be all good

That's odd... People fly their own planes into Canada all the time from Alaska and take their hunting rifles and/or shotguns with them. The have to pay a fee for each firearm and cannot take hand guns, but it is a routine operation.

So, are the "800 Canadians" going to feed the hungry, or is the Federal Government going to bury them with honors in some cemetery?

What I can not just fly a plane into the US carrying a bunch of guns?

That I don't know. The Fed's exempt themselves from wanton waste laws when they cull animals. A number of years ago they slaughtered a thousand or so reindeer on an island in Bristol Bay where they had been let loose and over populated, and just left them on the ground to rot. They refused several requests to take the animals (the reindeer are the domesticated caribou if you did not know) because they would not allow any white man to have them and no natives were interested. I seem to remember that one man finally (through the help of Senator Stevens) managed to get a small number of them. But the rest rotted on the ground. Freaking Feds...

People still pull that prank?

Oh, yeah, we're talking about Canada.
