I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I would really appreciate any feedback or information anyone has. I work as a housekeeper for a large real estate company in the Gulf Shores / Orange Beach, AL area. In the past, many companies have brought foreign workers over through the H2B and J1 visa programs to fill positions when local workers can't be found, and I don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem when there are lots of locals looking for work and Jamaican J1 workers are brought here and take work away from me and other hard-working American citizens. Since their arrival this summer, my work days and paycheck have been nearly cut in half. They are given better paying and easier properties to clean, discounted housing at a new upscale condo complex, free transportation to and from work...the list goes on. They do not do their job correctly, but because of a local "multicultural" advocacy group they face no repercussions. I want to do something to make people in this area aware of what is going on, but I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose my job, but I just don't think I can sit idly by and watch this go on. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.
