What the hell is going on? If the NFL doesn't ban this guy for life, I may seriously consider boycotting every NFL game.

He kills a guy while DUI, admits to it and gets a 30 day sentence. Evidently, he paid the family a large sum of money, which somehow convinced the DA to basically ignoring the fact that he killed someone with his car.

They reported on Fox that the family was apparently in favor of the pay off. Happy Father's day. They also said that part of the deal was to pay a sum of money ( I didn't hear how much) to MADD. MADD said no thanks.:clap:

There has, and always will be, one set of laws for the rich and another for the poor.

Sounds like Iraq.

I don't remember getting drunk and running someone over in Iraq.

I heard this the other day and my first thought was that he bought his way out. Obvious, I know.

Paying off the family for murder is common practice.

paying people for unforseen events is yes. We could be saving a lot of money if we didn't pay.

Oh I do not like the fact of paying.

This wasn't murder. It was manslaughter while driving drunk. The family may be appeased by the money but what about the public? What about the next time this guy drives drunk?

I agree, Stalworth has a lifetime drivers license suspension, but can appeal that in 5 years.

The reality is that many people convicted of DUI are found driving even while their license is suspended.

If Stalworth were not a millionaire and a football player this would be rotting in prison. No ifs ands or buts.

And that is where he should be no matter how much money he has.

I read that the average sentence was 10 years. I liked Stallworth,he played for the Saints until a couple years back. This does seem like a miscarriage of justice.

Lifetime ban for driving was part of the plea agreement

What of the fact this guy ran out in front of him?

I agree with this statement 100%. It wasn't Stallworth's fault the guy ran in front of him.

30 days is a little light but he paid the guy's family big bucks and he's still under house-arrest for two years.

I know if it were "one of us" we'd be in jail for a full year, but is 12 months going to bring this guy back.

I think this whole story is just a bunch of people who, like me, hate to see people get special treatment because they have money or stature versus a regular person. But hey, I think dui homicide charges are too stiff for first-time offenders without prior records. Of course, I've never lost a loved one to DUI homocide either and I may feel differently if it did happen.
