DEERFIELD, Ill. -- A 24-year-old Chicago woman has been charged with child endangerment for allegedly leaving her newborn baby and two dogs in an unlocked running car for 20 minutes while she shopped.
On June 7, police say Elizabeth K. Manion parked her vehicle with her baby inside while she went to a Walgreens in suburban Deerfield.
Authorities say a passer-by saw the car and notified police.

The woman claimed 'her mother" was supposedly watching her baby, only one problem the woman didn't have her mother with her.
Thank God for the passerby notifying authorities.
I certainly hope it is due to the local news aspect, even though Chicago is 300 miles north, but it seems there is an awful lot of really dumb people in this state.
Calgon.... Anyone.... Take me away!

What do you expect? The people around Chicago are so in-bred I am amazed they even know how to drive. And judging from the traffic on the free ways around there, most of them don't know how to drive.

Adopting a baby is a grueling, sometimes multi-year process that examines every aspect of a prospective parent's abilities and competence to safely and effectively raise the child to a responsible adult in a loving, nurturing atmosphere.
Conceiving your own baby only requires drunken sex.
Is there somehow we can meet in the middle?

Stupid people everywhere...trust me.
Bad thing is, stupid people reproduce faster than intelligent people, and tend to raise stupid kids. Bad, bad cycle. Thats my 1 main beef with God - the reproduction process is much too easy. If you just had to do a simple math problem or identify the noun in a sentence before conception could occur, we'd have a much lower birth rate...

Oh, I wouldn't be too hard on God...He knows what he's doing..even when we don't understand it. ;)
Everything has it's purpose. This specific story will have it's purpose in this woman's life as well. She will either A) learn from the experiance and grow from it or B) she won't learn a thing and her child will be endangered yet again. Possibly leaving her in a postion of loosing said child? Who knows?
As far as 'stupid' people breeding....I've seen the most spectacular of people raise some of the most horrific people. I've seen absolutely horrific people raise stellar people. One's intelligence level has nothing to do with the outcome.
Just saying....

The solution is obviously to have everyone give up their children for adoption at birth and have to go through the adoption process to get them back... or get someone else's baby if they like it better. ;)

Of course there are exceptions in both directions, but I have seen way too many examples - on a daily basis - that proves my statement.
Stupid people do reproduce faster, and the tend to raise stupider kids.

Wasn't it "go forth and be fruitful" not "go forth and be fruits" ?

Someone needs to pick this woman up and give her a good shaking. A knock upside the head and or a boot to the ass wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Idiot candidate nominee for today.
Determined to drive evil spirits out of her daughter, a Queens mom performed a bizarre voodoo fire ritual that left the 6-year-old girl scarred for life, prosecutors say.
While young Frantzcia Saintil was "engulfed in flames," Marie Lauradin let the screaming girl burn, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Thursday.
The girl told cops "the flames crawled up her body and burned her," the criminal complaint said.
Eventually, Frantzcia's grandmother doused the flames with cold water, but the women then put the girl to bed instead of getting her help, Brown said.
Frantzcia suffered for a whole day before a relative begged them to take her to a hospital.
When doctors finally saw her, Frantzcia had second- and third-degree burns covering 25% of her body, including her face, torso and legs, court papers state.
Lauradin, a 29-year-old Haitian immigrant, was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
"She denies these allegations," lawyer Jeff Cohen said. "This is my client's only child. My client would not hurt her."

I could never ever be a defense attorney.
I thank God that people can do that job, for those who are innocent, but I could not do it.

Bad thing is, stupid people reproduce faster than intelligent people, and tend to raise stupid kids.
There was a B movie based on that premise, I can't remember what it was called.
The basic plot was smart man marries smart woman and has two smart children. Idiot man marries idiot woman and has eight idiot kids, in the meantime idiot cheats on his wife with eight other idiot women and knocks them up as well. An astronaut from a 20th century cryo-stasis project wakes up several centuries into the future to a world filled with morons who can't even feed themselves and do nothing but watch TV game shows and all the guys have massive muscled right arms and wimpy scrawny left arms and they expect the astronaut to save the world.
