The highest since 1983.
It's a good think the liberal democrat advisor Jennifer Granholm was Obama's economic advisor.
I still can't believe how high it went.

I watched on the history channel the story of building the Mackinac Bridge there in Michigan. built in the mid 1950's.
steelworkers building a bridge with steel made right here inthe USA.
the envirowhackos have ruined this country, and especially MI.

I understand that quite a few cities/communities in Michigan, like Flint, are looking at just bulldozing down derelict neighborhoods and returning them back to mother nature. Anyone have any info on that? If it's true, maybe they could hire some folks to do it manually and salvage some of the materials.

that's what I was thinking watching it. so much work, workers and manufactured goods.
unbelievable that this country is now so wimpy we can't even build a bridge like that.
no wonder idiobama thinks China is way above us in infrastructure. BECAUSE THEY CAN.

Having lived in the city for most of my life, I would be for it.
The city despite facing huge budget deficits only started closing schools with dwindling attendance recently.

Funny things is that most of the people I know are liberal and even they don't like her.
I don't understand how she got re-elected.

Thanks for the link, even though it was a Brit paper. :)
This is what I find sad:
Flint, sixty miles north of Detroit, was the original home of General Motors. The car giant once employed 79,000 local people but that figure has shrunk to around 8,000.
Unemployment is now approaching 20 per cent and the total population has almost halved to 110,000.
The exodus – particularly of young people – coupled with the consequent collapse in property prices, has left street after street in sections of the city almost entirely abandoned.
Coming from Michigan myself with a lot of family still there, it really makes me sad because it is beautiful country but until the people get out of the welfare and entitlement syndrome, I don't see any changes for them in the near future.

I'll probably lose my liberal credentials for agreeing with you, but it's true...
For too long the people of my hometown thought that government could step in and solve their problems.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same over in ZOOLOO land. Fortunately Uncle Sam saw fit to "broaden my horizons" so I was able to escape the fate of many of my childhood friends and family.
