I'm not submitting this for the "game".....but couldn't help actually doing an op-ed.

California Bankrupt? Where’s Hollywood Now?

After reading the stories over the past few months of the fiscal issues facing California, I was slightly bemused. How can one of the top 20 richest states in the Union http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060930115136AAs907L (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060930115136AAs907L) be facing so many financial woes? Bemusement changed quickly to amazement when notions of bankruptcy were mentioned by the media. There were other feelings associated with the news, a sense of irony and I would be remiss if I did not admit to a feeling of, “I told you so.” In the wake of the announcement of no help from the federal government, all those earlier feelings give way to a shake of the head in consternation and wonder. Believe it or not, these feelings do not arise from how expensive it is to live in California but from all the advice the state has tried to benefit our lives in the rest of the U.S.

Have we not been counseled from Hollywood, repeatedly, that we should “go green”? http://www.hollywoodgoesgreen.com (http://www.hollywoodgoesgreen.com)Have we not been counseled on how to help the poor? From Comic Relief to Farm Aid? http://www.variety.com/index.asp?layout=variety100&content=jump&jump=culture&articleID=VR1117930876 How about Hollywood’s support of federal programs to the arts? http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/bprelutsky/2009/01/22/a-plea-to-unendow-the-arts/I hear about the fear of conservatives and conservative politicians, http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,420621,00.html as well as these politicians can “suck it” http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,24333997-5006003,00.html It appears that Hollywood has supported all the expensive programs that were supported by the State government, from California Emissions, to the restricting water for fish that are not even endagered http://aquafornia.com/archives/8516 However, now the current worry is that 1 million children might lose their health insured status? Because programs might be cut?

My question to Hollywood becomes, since the state has acted as you have wished, will YOU bail the state out? Or are you just sideline hypocrites that really hate it when the rich are taxed, when it is you?
