Tell us what you think is good about America.

Don't bother with petty political crap, just say something that's good.:flag:

I'll start.

It's nice to have the freedom to share ideas, rants and raves, in forums like this.

See, that was easy, now you try.

Land of opportunity.

My dad was a construction worker, who busted his ass, lived within his means, put 3 kids through Catholic School.

We were the first generation to go to college.

I worked my way through college, served 20 years, retired am on my second career and am about to put my oldest in college.

You can do anything you want to in this country!

The American Film Industry: John Huston, Douglas Fairbanks, Stanley Kubrik, Humphrey Bogart (not a director but still one of the finest actors to grace the silver screen), Orson Welles, Vincent Price (see Bogart), Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and host of other contemporaries. I truly believe that we have made some of the greatest films in the world.

It is nice to go to a country where no matter what race or religion you are can succeed. As I have mentioned numerous times I am 1/2 Native American and am also Roman Catholic and it is amazing how you succeed in this country where in other countries because of my religion especially I would not be as successful!

As a child I lived in a place where we had to have high walls with glass in them to keep our family safe. We could not go for walks outside our compound without guards. One of our neighbors was a slave trader... his inventory was mostly children. I used to see them every day on the way to school.

Many poor families had a family beggar... a child whose bones they broke and crippled so that this child could grow up and beg... the worse one I saw was the 'crab' lady. When walked on all fours with her stomach/face up... because of the position and her lack of strength she was repeatedly raped.

We lived on the best street in the city. Two doors down from the governor.

Every tribe in the area would come to protest and ask favors or solutions from the governor. One time it was mothers of students who had been arrested.

They sat against the walls all the way up the block. The governors guards came out after a few hours, when the mothers refused to leave, and beat the women almost to death. My bet is that some of them died. My father was very veagh (spelling?) about it.

I could go on and on…. But you get the idea.

America is what that place was not. America is a place where people have rights and freedoms. Where people are safe (except in the worst of neighborhoods) and where people can be successful if they work at it regardless of race, religion or political views.

Ih you mean a voter fraud ridden election and a person who hates a republic!:rolleyes:Yeah Obama and Achmedenajad are similar in that way!:))

Yeah, that's what I meant

Or perhaps I meant how our country is able to have a peaceful transfer of power, something that seems to elude many other countries around the world.

to have the freedom, as a woman, to talk to men not related, to wear what I want, to go to a bar alone if I want, to drive, work (yuck), don't have to haul water from a vermin infected river, can go to all 50 states without anyone stopping me and throwing me into jail....well, that's changing it seems.

I love America and if Obama ruins it I'm going to kick his ass.

No one told me there would be a test...

There are many good things about America I can speak of.

Some are trivial little things and some are huge.

I love that I can buy groceries at a gas station and gas at a grocery store.

I love the vastness of this country.

The richness of its personality.

I love road trips where I can cross 4 time zones and pass through dozens of states that are each unique in themselves, almost like mini countries, but I can pass from one to the other freely.

It is a land where you can go from literally nothing to being incredibly wealthy.
It is a land where someone can be raised in poverty and rise to be president.

Nothing is impossible here. It is a great land and I'd live no place else.

I like that I can go anywhere in this country without anyone asking any questions as to why I choose to go where I'm going.

Freedom, nothing is better.

I'm sure that there will be a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGG line of people wanting to do that.

But to answer the OP.

I can go out during hunting season and kill all the meat that me and my wife need/want for the rest of the year until the next season, and I can (for the time being) take whichever weapon(s) I choose.

I can go less than 20 miles and catch all the fish I want for a meal.
I can hop on my motorcycle and ride as long as I wish.
I can load up the 4-wheeler and ride for hours.
I can hook up to the boat and go ride if I want.
As others mentioned, one can start with nothing and work their way to the richest person in the world (Bill Gates did it)
We can (for the moment) post dissenting views on sites like this without govt action interfering (like what happens in China)

Those are just a few of many reasons why America is the best country there is.

Very true, very much sad.

But, that apathy is exactly why we have the very people that we have in the govt now that couldn't give a rats ass about the state of the country, only looking out to increase their own power.

Very saddening indeed

America is good because I can worship God uninhibited any time I choose, anywhere I choose, as long as it don't step on anyone else's toes. I can't ask for more than that. I am a Christian and America is the best place on this planet to be a Christian.

Thank GOD that I can freely worship Him here.

Something nice?

For right now, the country is called "America."

There is no United States. Unfortunately, the only thing united in this country is the United Nations, and that body of globalist scum wants to merge America with Mexico and Canada and enslave everyone in it. Don't believe me? Well, there's already a European Union, and an African Union and an Asian/Pacific Union are in the works.

Why else do you think most politicians worldwide aren't concerned about national borders?

What I like is that I'm free to go to a restaurant where they serve nothing but unprocessed healthy whole foods. Something like whole-grain flourless bread with no corn surup or sodium in it. Then a nice soup (no sodium please) loaded with calcium-rich green vegetables, a little garlic and chopped onions for flavor, mushrooms, yellow squash, beans (for protein) and whole grain rice (to complement the protein in the beans). Then for dessert, a cup of mixed fresh fruit.

Oh, wait a minute; we don't have any restaurants like that! Well, at least I'm free to dream about it. (Some restaurants have "wheat bread" which many people think is 100% whole wheat but it's a phoney.)

I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with being free to do what I want (eat healthy meals at home) and enjoy my financial success. Overall, this is a great country and I'm thankful and lucky to have been born here.

The intellectual advancement that a freedom of expression grants us.

We may not have the oldest European-style culture of the world, but ours is FAR richer!
