I know that Letterman is becoming a angry old liberal lately, but I think it would be wrong for CBS to fire him just as it was wrong for Imus to be fired.

The groups who what Letterman fired are acting no worse than Al Sharpton and the rest who wanted Imus canned.

he should apologize for what he said and mean it. or be fired.

A real apology would be impossible.

He could not give a real apology because he is not sorry for what he said no matter which daughter was there.

I do not believe he should be fired.

I do think he is on a slide down a partisan hatred mountain and he should consider bowing out before he does get asked to leave.

I really liked his work at one time but the last two years he has been getting stupid with the hate.

No... He should not be fired.

... but he should be forced to tell several jokes about his "slutty" wife and bastard child. ;)

He's become so irrelevant that firing him would just bring about the inevitable.

well Imus was fired for less.
Yes his comment was in bad taste and disrespectful (Imus), but letterman was WAY out of line, EXTREMELY inappropriate, hugely disrespectful and just plain wrong.

You just don't say something like that

What I don't really understand is how Letterman can talk about anyone else when he also had a baby out of wedlock. He needs to practice what he preaches.

He can talk about others cause that is part of the job description, then we have that silly free speech thingie to back up his "preaching" as it were.

I just want to say that it's amazing how so many people of the far left persuasion claim to feel great compassion and tolerance for others and their ideals, yet they extend nothing but animosity to anyone with a different opinion than theirs. How hypocritical can these people get?! Where is common, moral, decency? David Letterman and CBS are just another example of how depraved this sector of American society has become. By the way....not that I really want him to, but since Obama takes precious time away from the important matters of "running" our nation (into the ground!) by making a big production over which basketball team(s) he's choosing to win playoffs, jetting to NY for dinner and a show, etc., etc.!...where is any outrage from him, or even his wife, over Letterman's perverted comments about young girls...of which they have two!! Oh. I get it. That would be biting the had that feeds them. The more I think about this whole double-standard thing, the angrier I get! Again...this whole situation is just ANOTHER example of how depraved the left-wing of society is!
