the political atmosphere of the period was frightening.
no care or consideration for any ideas other than those espoused by the man in power.
if you dared dissent from the " popular view " you were pilloried.
deign to criticize the " king " and you and anyone you love or care about would be destroyed.
maybe i'm losing my sanity, but i fear for my country...

Yeah... and if you stole a WW2 battleship, you would have damn well hoped Steven Seagal wasn't on board!

Which movie are we talking about here? Is it that hilarious American Civil War 'comedy'?....
You know, the one where the Brits were the daftest idiots ever to set foot on a battlefield (they were STUPID but a bit of historical accuracy please;))...
And the evil Brits set fire to a church having already herded the heroic yanks into it.........Oh how my mates and I laughed.......
Or do you mean that Steven Seagal thing.......

The movie is anything but accurate. However, I do believe that citizens should be concerned for this Republic.

There were a few gems of dialogue worth noting.
Col. Harry Burwell: This is not a war for the independence of one or two colonies, but for the independence of one nation.
Mr. Howard: We ARE citizens of an American nation! And our rights are being threatened by a tyrant three thousand miles away!
Benjamin Martin: Would you tell me please, Mr. Howard, why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can.
Col. Harry Burwell: Captain Martin, I understood you to be a patriot.
Benjamin Martin: If you mean by patriot, am I angry about taxation without representation, well, yes I am. Should the American colonies govern themselves independently? I believe that they can, and they should. But if you are asking me, am I willing to go to war with England? Well, then the answer is most definately NO!
I feel we have perhaps traded one tyrant for many.
But as a Patriot I am not ready nor willing to go to war against Washington D.C. but will fight on the Forums and the places where I come into contact with others in person and at the ballot box, and I will fight with my words and my vote.

The occupants of the House, Senate, Number One Observatory Circle, and the new head tyrant in residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington D.C..
They be the who.
