My brother had a pretty spectacular crash in the 2003 Montana 200.. (A popular Super Late Model race every year in July in Kalispell Montana)

We have endless races on VHS and were converting them all over to DVD the last couple of months.. I posted it in on Youtube for alot of friends and fellow racers who had never seen it..

He won the race in 2001, Lost an engine in 2002 with 10 laps to go and a 1/2 lap lead.. This video was around lap 75 of 200 and he was passing for the 3rd spot. He had started 18th in this race because of a problem in qualifying...

He was not hurt except in the pocket book and is very lucky because when he was upside down the gear oil and fuel from the ruptured cell drained into the driver compartment and his race suit was soaked with the oil and race fuel. Very lucky the fire went out right away...

JEEBUS!

I ache just watching that.

I have only witnessed one bad accident, but there wasn't any fire, at least. Just a sedan that rolled four times down the highway.

Yeah, we haven't exactly quit yet but we only race about 3 times a year now.. We took the first step, however and sold everything since then and race for other people.

What happened there? From all the sparks it looked like something broke.

... and now we know the origin of Retxed. ;)

From watching it it looked like the 99 car pinched him against the retaining wall and the driver side tire blew from body damage and also possibly the brakes got damaged or locked.

You are welcome.

But really I think RETXED faked it all on a NASCAR sound stage in a secret boarded up abandoned Atlanta warehouse.

(I use this name on other message boards and You would be amazed at how many people that I have known for years that have yet to figure it out....:)))

Yeah, they have since fixed the problem but there used to be an opening under the flag stand so people could access the track directly instead of walking all of the way around... When the 99 car pushed him into the wall that opening ripped the whole RF suspension and brake lines off which after that he was just along for the ride...

The initial fire came from the RF shock exploding all over the headers and these cars run the stock mechanical fuel pump which is on the RS of the Chevrolet.. It busted off and continued the fire for a few seconds..

Then the freeway barriers acted as a launching pad because they had the sloped side to the track. They have since turned them around so the flat side is facing the track... If they had done that in the first place he would have just bounce off the wall a few times until he came to a stop... But hey, we wouldn't have a cool wreck on youtube to watch then... lol

My brother takes things in stride and doesn't let stuff bother him too much so after about an hour and everyone had calmed down he pops up and asks.... "So..... did it look cool?"

LOL...... Ummmmmmm, yeah bro. It looked cool. Just don't DO IT AGAIN!...

I predict.......... never. :razz:It's a shame. Arlington would have been a natural and Bremerton Airport would have drawn from out of staters as well. It had my vote....NASCAR would be great for Washington.
