View Full Version : The Coming Attack on Free Speech

I made the mistake of getting lured into reading a New York Times Op-Ed piece today and for all the "concerns" listed by the author of the piece and those of his same ilk, what I find truely of concern is the following:

There is a move afoot at the moment to bring back "The Fairness Doctorine". Most of us are aware of that and have been for a time.

However, there is a growing tide of willing Americans who are being led into this mudhole and they are from segments of America that cannot understand how important it is not to go down this path or how important open criticism (no matter how vitriolic) is to an open and free society.

It is also of concern to me because these same types of attacks and controls are those imposed by any totalitarian regime or leadership bent on societal control to ensure continued political power and control.

One of the responses to this author's absurd suggestions that the Right is using the media to try and get some sort of "right wing lunatic" to assassinate Obama via all the "hate mongering" of Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly and others was as follow and I quote: "America will no longer be the America of the white founders, with white last names, rather it will be an America of the Gonzalez, Rodriguez and other non-white last names and the whites are afraid of this change and so they hate".

There is a level of truth to that particular statement and in less than two decades, if things continue on as they are, that level of truth will most likely be a certainty and many of the owners of those last names ( Gonzalez, Rodriguez, etc) come from countries where controlled press and speech and pubic gatherings are common place and mean little to the average citizen who, due to the corruption of the leadership who impose these types of controls, are too busy trying to find a way to earn their daily needs than to be overly concerned about the free speech and free press we enjoy in the US and have fought so hard to defend during our history.

These new "Americans" do not care about such things. That is not what drove them to come here.

They came here for the access to a job market that their countries did not provide them. They came here because they were told that even if they were not legally living in the US they had a very good chance of getting a job and would be able to send money home to maintain their families. They came here because even if they were illegal, any child born in the US would be a citizen and create a chain of citizenship for others in the family languishing in the country of origin of the illegal parent. They came as opportunists to take advantage of a system that was not functioning well to protect those who carry the burden of providing the revenue streams to support much of what these last name holders get for free just by being here.

In short, the reasons for the Founding Fathers of America and the Constitution that they wrote and which we have suffered for, fought and died to uphold are no longer the primary reason nor concern of a very substantial portion of the US population.

Worse than this, the Founding Fathers and their purpose in establishing America and the Constitution are not the founding principals and purposes of the mainstream media and most of the left wing Democrats now in control of the Nation.

And finally, and what should be of true concern to all of us, it is most assuredly (no matter what he or the media says) not the core belief of Mr. Obama nor are these principals something that we have much evidence as forming his administration policies and plans (even though the writer of that article says he has "only been in office 145 days and has not done anything close to what the "hatemongers of the right" claim he has done" ).

He is embraced by leaders and nations committed to our downfall because of his willingness to embrace an apologetic stance on behalf of America, because he is viewed as weak on defending the boarders and citizens of the Country, because he is willing to write the term "terrorist" out of our dicitionary, because he has stated on more than one occassion that America was and is wrong in many of it's basic tenants and approaches to the world at large and most especially in how it sees, defines and will treat enemies and, to his everlasting shame, because he can now be seen to be starting a slow and subtle step away from supporting Israel with his latest devastatingly and humiliting speech concerning the Palestinians.

The Fairness Doctorine would have provoked any one of the Founding Fathers to rage and together they would most certainly have never let it be part of their debate for longer than it would have taken them to raise their hands to vote it down.

It is, (no matter what we will hear as this subtle and sinuous serpent slithers its' way into mainstream acceptance and attempted political passage) a method by which the larger societal and political change and control last name holders like Soros, Rev. Wright, Kennedy, Pelosi, Clinton and Obama seek to impose on all of us.

It is a means to do away with dissent, open and vibrant discourse, discovery of corruption and if we are not careful, it will be a permanent change to our system of government and a means by which they can see gaining a lasting control over the Nation. They will just find ways to take from those they deem having too much or who have acheived too much above the norm (they will establish the norm by the weay) and give those last names what you and I have had to work our lives to earn. They will make it a part of their new American dream, not to earn your way to a better life but only, get to America and be given a better life and the right to vote, just make sure you remember who gave you the better life and what they took from the rest of us to give it to you.

About the only thing in the article that I could find I was in agreement with was the statement that the Republican Party finds itself silenced and leaderless without much appeal or programs to offer anyone at the moment and that they are left to be "the Party of No", a position not many will be inspired to support.

It is time for reasonable voices to start offering alternatives and a National plan that will inspire support because if not now I do think that once some of those last names do reach the demographic numbers projected in 2020 it will be too late because they do not now and will not then care about the America and Constitution of America you and I care about.
