Soup Lines & Converter Boxes
There is something wrong with this picture, and no I am not talking about on your TV, I am talking about our country as it is continuing to slide down that Progressive* leaning slope.
The vast majority of households that rely on antennas for their TV signals were prepared for the shutdown, but many people remained vexed by the challenge of setting up digital reception.
Hundreds of people began lining up about 3 a.m. Friday outside the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati, five hours before the agency began giving out 250 free digital converter boxes. The center had given all the converters away by 10:30 a.m., and many people were still in line.

Note: Before I get attacked for using the term "Progressive", I do not see either side of the political fence as sole owners of that moniker. President Bush was the worst Progressive Republican President in my adult life in my opinion.

You make an astute observation Lou...one I happen to agree with. Example: Colin Powell is a Republican? Really? Blue Dog Dems verses the fringe left loon dems...sounds more like a 7 round cage fight to me then politics doesn't it?
Republicans pandering after any vote they can get their hands on; watering down their 'values and ethics' speeches in hopes of re-election? Example: Bush and his Southern Border speeches /policies. It's an absolute mess on who is and who is not what they say they are, much less who stands for what anymore. With words like Moderate, conservative and libertarian thrown into the word salad mix....then add on base word like Dem or Independent or Republican....it's no wonder no one knows who stands for what anymore as we slowly slip into progressive socialized hell.

Progressive is a unilateral term that can be applied to any given ideology...regardless the political affiliation that spawned said ideology. No stone throwing here...just agreement of your observation;) on the word itself.

HA! So they're giving out converter boxes to the "poor" in Cincinnati.
In this city and county they're handing out free Sony Bravia 48 inch HDTV's with one-year cable or satellite subscriptions.
But that's not good enough. The poor are complaining the TV's are too little. Maybe they'll give them some rims and sneakers to appease and avert civil unrest.
