I went and purchased soccer shoes for Kirsten, my very petite 4 year old, yesterday. OMG! They are only a size 10 in little, little kids shoes and they are just tooooo cute. They look like baby shoes. With the shin guards, the soccer socks, (which I had to fold completely over, otherwise they cover her thighs), and those little shoes on, her feet look even more tiny than they already are. I will have to charge up the batteries on the camera and see if I can post a picture. I cannot wait to see her during soccer camp. She is still too young to play on a team, but they only need to be 4 to participate in the camp. She is a little-bitty thing, but quite "passionate" about anything she does. She will be one of them out there scrapping for the ball.

My 6 year old got his first pair last year and they were a size 13. He is not a scrapper though, much more laid back. He had fun last year, running up and down the field with the other players. I am glad that he got the coach that he got last year. This guy was very good with the really young ones. Caleb will have him for a coach again this summer, thank God. I remember putting Caleb in his first karate uniform. He looked so little compared to the other kids. He earned his orange belt with stripe this month. Karate has been good for him.

My 15 year old will be playing soccer on the High School Girls summer team again. She enjoys the game. She was taking tennis lessons a couple of summers ago with one of the college players. She enjoyed that, but then she started in karate. She is going to try to test for her red belt next month. If she passes, or I should say when she passes, she will only have one more test to take and then she will be able to test for her black belt. They are studying Tang Soo Do, btw. I am not sure if I am going to put Kirsten in karate this coming fall. I think that she would really enjoy something like gymnastics more. She is a daredevil and loves flipping around on anything she can find. It will be a scheduling nightmare, seeing how the only two gyms that I know about are in the opposite direction than the karate studio. But as a parent, you do what you have to do. I am still watching Corinne, who is only 2.5, to see what she might "get into". If I had to guess, I would say she is more the dance type little girl. Wait and see.

Are there any other soccer parents out there? Tee-ball? Football? Did your heart melt when you first put those shoes and gear on your little one?

Good for her, one thing we can be sure of is that she won't grow up to be a posing, preening prima donna like someone I could mention:

Cost a lot of money though...

Not a soccer mom or dance mom, yet. My daughter is almost 2 and even though people are going to hate me for this, I am a pageant mom. Been doing pageants since she was 4 months old and she loves, loves, loves it. Dressing up (no makeup at this level, or flippers, or hair pieces) and doing her hair. Getting on stage in her princess clothes and now she even sings in the talent portion. We do "twinkle, twinkle". She loves being on stage and making people smile.

My son played tee ball and then pitch ball. I loved watching the little ones play. There were children that didn't understand that they were supposed to run the bases when they hit the ball. Some were so stunned that they hit the ball that they would stop and yell to their parents...Mom, Dad...did you see that?!...before running the bases.

There's 6 years between my son and daughter so our daughter kind of grew up on a baseball/tee ball field. But alas baseball was not her cup of tea. She was a soccer fan.

Again watching the littl ones play is a hoot. Most of them do not have a clue which goal it is they are supposed to target.

We went from baseball fields to soccer fields to running tracks. My daughter played soccer until high school. That's when she discovered cross country running.

Enjoy every second count...as a parent of a 15 year old you know how fast the time flies. One minute you are amazed at how cute those itsy bitsy soccer shoes are...and then next you are helping her pick out the perfect prom gown.

My how I miss those days spent on baseball and soccer fields.
