Is it just me but since Colmes left Fox have really dumbed down Seans primetime show. Watching it right now and he is interviewing Denise Richards. *** I thought Sean was a serious political commentator.
His Great American Panel also has questionable guests on, why the need to include "celebrities".
Obviously Sean does not have full control over his show and if this is what Fox is demanding then you cannot blame him for going along with it.
But Fox News like other media outlets does seem to like spend more time discussing "pop culture" than real news.

Colmes did a pretty good job of dumbing down the show all by himself. I still wonder at how that guy ever got on TV and radio.
Anyway, I see what you mean though. I would guess they are trying to up his ratings, because Americans love that crap.

maybe Sean could get Nancy Grace as his sparring partner. Hannity & Grace has a nice ring to it.

I can't imagine Nancy Grace agreeing to share the spotlight with anyone.

That is your problem right there.

I enjoyed the debate aspect of the show with Colmes. I always thought Kirsten Powers would be a good complement to Hannity. They seem to have a good rapport.

Can't agree about Powers. She seems sort of humorless, and IMHO humor - genuine humor, not taking potshots at politicians minor children - adds a lot to commentary. It can be, as O'Reilly says, pithy - just read a Mark Steyn column and you'll get the point.
I think there may have been a decision to add some lighter segments to the show, perhaps because O'Reilly's segments like Miller Time and Culture Quiz have been so successful - I don't think Sean's have always been as well done, but I think the goal is to create a separate entity from "Hannity and Colmes".
As far as the Great American Panel, I am most likely to channel surf when I see familiar commetators on it - Beckel, Powers, Geraldo, Juan Williams - I like the addition of a celebrity, or someone I don't ordinarily see on panels - in fact, I would like to see Sean draft a "man on the street" once in a while - "Great Americans" are not exclusively political commentators and celebrities.
