As a matter of fact we did. It's too bad that you libs won't do the same with Letterman, instead of trying to defend him from the indefensable.
Unlike Letterman who is just making lameass excuses for what he did, Rush admitted that he was wrong, made a sincere apology, and we all moved on.

Oh I agree. Loved Dave through the 70's and into the 80's. He was our late night reprieve after Johnny Carson left and Leno took over. Never liked Leno.
Now, Dave is closer to Bill Maher...who used to also be very sharp, funny and enjoyable to watch in the old days. Now..both grate on my nerves like fingers nails down a chalk board!
Dennis Miller....now he's a guy I've always enjoyed! Still as sharp witted today as he ever was...a real funny bone tickler. Love those verbal gymnastics of his! :)) He even makes Bill O'Reily laugh...now that's talent!

She needs to just shut up already. That little fantasy has been totally discredited. Not ONE member of local law enforcement or ANY of the Secret Service present heard it, nor are there any RECORDINGS of it. The only ones who claim to have heard it are the media - any guesses to how they voted? And it was more like the power of suggestion that they "heard" anything.

That makes no sense. Why would a man who's recieved death threats based on race pay people to encite a crowd to assasinate him? Only a fool would believe a man would doom himself this way.
I also find your ridiculous request to "name names" at a rally flat out stupid. Allthough it wasn't disclosed which of McCain/Palin's followers recited those words let's be clear on one thing: the crowd cheered at the statement (as they did at many others which are well documented and irrefutable) and your candidates did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to distance themselves from them until it started hurting them at he polls.
I also know I believed my last POTUS when he told me several times we don't torture. Now I must listen to Old Man Cheney and his cronies on every media outlet say they lied, which has far greater consequences to the nation in comparison than Obama and some wacky old preacher.

News flash: someone telling you there's no recording or the secret service not finding the perps (in a sea of thousands) does not discredit anything. Besides, I really don't think the secret service would be arresting someone spewing rhetoric that supports the cause of the people on stage, do you?
As for Palin, I don't want her to shut up because of me, but more for her children. I know she wants to defend them cause that's what parents do, but if Letterman has made a fool of himself and everyone is on your side on the matter, why speak out against it on every media outlet? Release a statement and let it go. She's only giving him more ammo to keep going after them, as he did on his show just recently.

And you don't realize that the Secret Service and local LEO's always have undercover officers throughout the crowds at events like this? If it happened, it would have been heard and reported by the SS and LEOs.What would they arrest them for?
All of the members of law enforcement at that rally were interviewed and they all reported that they didn't hear anything, but the local media did? And how could they have heard it and not recorded it considering modern electronics are far more sensitive than the human ear? Or are you challenging the integrity of dozens of LEOs.

I'm willing to accept the truth when there is unrefuttable evidence to support it. All I've heard from you is that it was the liberal media that made it up and a bunch of secret service people say they didn't hear it. I don't believe that answer especially when Fox news was there (not just CNN and MSNBC) and they televised the same broadcast live and reported the same story. As for the secret service...unless they had a 50/50 ratio of undercover agents to rally supporters it's plausible they couldn't pinpoint who/where those statements came from, listening devices or not. And let's be real...the secret service aren't exempt from lying or distorting the truth, or have you forgotten?

News flash: someone telling you there's no recording or the secret service not finding the perps (in a sea of thousands) does not discredit anything.
The fact that there is no records means one of two things: 1) it never happened or 2) it was one or so idiots in a huge crowd… not enough people to even start accusing the entire group there as being supporters of the supposed statement.
Besides, I really don't think the secret service would be arresting someone spewing rhetoric that supports the cause of the people on stage, do you?
They absolutely would arrest anyone there who spouted things that were illegal, like death threats to another candidate. That is part of their job.
So you must want Palin to shut up and allow people to attack her children? Unbelievable. If this were the first and only time her children were attacked it might make sense for her to not make a big deal out of it. But the Palin children have been attacked and abused by the media and on the internet from the first day she entered to national race. Obviously responding in a low key manner has not worked. So they are now taking the more verbal approach. They have the right.
Why speak out on media outlets? Well if she speaks out on it in her living room no one will hear her will they? Letterman used a forum that reaches millions of people to call Palin a slut and to talk about his fantasies of her daughter being raped. So to reach the same audience Palin has to use the media… duh.
So a parents speaking out against those who attack her children only gives more ammo for the attackers to go after the children? How about the idea that in a decent society, it would cause the attackers huge embarrassment and disgrace, they would apologize and never do it again. Or if they did it again they would lose their jobs? Try decency on for size.
So do you tell women who are physically abused, raped, sexually harassed at work, etc to just shut up and take it too? The Palin girls need to know that they do not have to take this trash. That they can speak out against it and fight back against those who want to make them, even as children, look like sluts and worse.
How do you think that Obama would react to anyone saying the same thing about his daughters? You going to tell Obama to shut up when it happens?

I think they both need to apologize to the girls. Letterman for making such a distasteful joke, and Sarah Palin for milking the whole situation for all its worth, politically.
You think Palin is 'milking' the situation? Really? I know what I'd do and say to the public had Letterman made such grotesque verbal gestures towards my daughters. Palin is being tame to say the least.....:snooty:
And let's be clear and honest shall we? Letterman didn't make 'a' distasteful joke..he made 'several' distasteful jokes. One slip of a tinged tongue joke I can almost let slide..had it been directed solely at Palin;...Being a Public figure makes you fair game to a point for late night t.v. fodder. You take it, grow a thick skin..and move on.
However, several tinged jokes about Palin and her girls...doesn't fly with me ...no way no how. Being silent and demure is not how one deals with a verbal bully like Letterman. No Male Public figure would idly sit back and take swipe after swipe at his family...so why should Palin just because she's a female? Someone has to be the adult and stand up and put the leash and collar back on some of these raving loonies who feel it's ok to say whatever they wish too in the name of comedy.
Letterman wants to make jokes about Palin...make them pertinent to what she is doing in the public eye..I say let him have at her. He should take on jokes about Pelosie and Hillary too then. All fair game right? But keep their family out of it..especially the kids of these public figures. I think Pelosie and Hillary would agree...don't you?

Why debete these Libs ? Most of them have so much hate and dumb$sses, if you told them to look into a mirror and told them they are looking at themselves, they would argue that it's not them.
They may even think that it's that big ear guy that lies every time those lips opens.
B.O. what a guy he is, he can, but will not help out his own BLOOD (brother) and his worth millions.
I say boycott CBS and all union made products, yes even our own car companies that we own. BO is killing jobs and seems to like it. So lets help him out taking down unions. They where a big help giving him $$$ and voting for him.
We better start boycotts on anything that is made in blue states and unions, or the libs will win again. If you boycott where it hurts the libs the most, they may wake-up. But i think that they are so brain dead, you would have a better chance waking-up a rock

Yeah... that doesn't surprise me. We all know you are full of hate and loathing...
I'm just saying if I say something bad about someone I say it because I mean it. So, if you mean it why should you apologize?

No need to explain; I knew exactly what you meant... That is why I am not surprised.

Letterman makes more money for CBS than Imus ever did. He will not be fired.

Food for thought: One can use truth as a weapon all by itself. The difference between being honest, even when that truth can be hurtful; and what David Letterman did (ie we know Sara is not Flight Attendant; we know A-Rod didn't knock up her daughter; We know Alan Spitzer isn't a child molester/did not molest Willow Palin) are two totally different scenarios. You or I stating an opinion on a public figure are free to do so...just as Letterman is. Stating an opinion on a public figure's kids..even here that's a no no. One must ask themselves 'why'?
Stating an obvious characteristic of someone is not necessarily stating truth. For example, your girlfriend has gained a few pounds..and it's noticeable. She asks you if she looks 'fat' in a pair of jeans. Do you tell her...yes...you look fat in those jeans? or...do you tell her...you look fine...don't worry about it? Outside of your truth...your observation, what caveats do we all use to rationalize not using brutal truth? Perhaps we don't want to hurt someone's feelings? When we use an observation to hurt someone...that truth becomes a weapon..and it works rather well.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with stating the truth; as long as one is willing to accept the consequences and repercussions that can come from doing so. Twisting truth or abandoning it all together does reap a separate set of repercussions and consequences. David Letterman is experiencing some of those repercussions for exacting twisted truth to abandoned truth through 'what if' scenarios toward the Palin family. He would have better served himself and his career had he simply stood up and stated his opinions on Sara Palin then what he choose to do...use half witted tolite humor to take low blow type swipes as the Palin family. Hitting on Palin's sweet kids...that's beyond low imo. Getting to someone through their kids is the lowest form of slime imo. Palin is a big girl...has a thick skin..and can even take a well told joke about herself. That however, is not the scenerio here is it?
Makes me wonder how A-Rod, Spitzer and female Flight Attendants felt after watching that show? We haven't heard a peep from any of them.

Did Daves ratings actually go up? ...or... is it that the specific episode in question ratings went up?..vis a vie YouTube and the like? Google search states that the ratings have gone up and have gone down. Looks like Connan is still kicking the Late Shows bum. So it's begs the question...how far down were Letterman's ratings to boost him out of the cellar of late night programing and still come in bottom floor under Connan?

I'm still trying to "recall" the ads taken out calling for Bush's assassination. That might be the nuttiest claim I've seen recently. And we are talking about this board, so thats a pretty high bar.

Maybe you can't find it due to 'it never happened'?
Totally agree with you...it is the 'nuttiest' claim made here in quiet a while.
Entertaining though...lol

Thank you. And Palin has the nerve to cry foul when she did nothing to stop her supporters from calling Obama a terrorist and to kill him in the process. She needs to just shut up already.
what liberal pap. Palin is not responsible for "apologizing" for every stupid remark anyone else makes. no, the left never apologizes for their hatred of the right, they only keep it up.
you liberals make a movie 'Death of a President', about murdering Bush, and some video game "Kill President Bush", then bellyache whine about what some fool yelled in a crowd. grow up.

Because it's a really great way to get a person to lose their cool. Honestly, if you don't care who you hurt and are that ruthless, more power to you. if I decided to go to that extreme to make a point, I know I sure as hell wouldn't apologize for it. That being said, I don't understand why if he went there he doesn't have the balls to say "yeah I meant it and I'm NOT sorry"...or if he really didn't mean it, why the hell was he stupid enough to go there.
