I watched Newts speech to the RNCC the other night, and I heard him say, once again, that he wanted a big tent of conservatives, moderates, democrats, and so on. He went on to say he wanted to see our party not bi-partisan, but tri-partisan, with red, white and blue states involved in debate. I understand where Newt is coming from, and as a Presidential hopeful, I want him to think that way. But here is what hit me with regards to that big tent, and the red, white and blue.
I see the rinos, moderates, or whatever you want to call them within the GOP, as being equal in many ways to someone who suffers from alcohol or drug addiction. Before you turn off your PC hear me out. To anyone who has suffered an addiction or watched the show intervention, you see that the addicts goal in life becomes all about the addiction. How is that different than someone like Arlen Spector, who totally did away with his principles in order to have a chance at re-election. Not only did he change his principles like a change of underware, this is the second time he has done it in his career.
The addict does not care who he or she hurts around them, weither it be a close friend or family member. A rino or moderates main purpose is getting elected, and will vote with or without a party to achieve that purpose or goal. They do not care who they hurt or offend in the process. An addict will stab anyone in the back to get what they need to survive. A rino will reach across party lines and vote with anyone in order to get re-elected or be perceived as a winner. The addict will tell you what you want to hear in order to get what they want. Any rino will tell you what you want to hear in order to get re-elected.
I agree with Newts approach, but have one question. How long do we have to put up with RINOs who have no need for debate, but rather, set their focus on the destruction of the party? An intervention is needed within the party. A group of leaders must let them know that debate is good, but destroying the party from within will not be tolerated. Just as a parent tells the addict to leave, rather than bring down the whole family, it may have come to that time, with some in the party to leave. Debate within the party is good, but to bring down the party because of your selfish needs will not happen any longer.
Colin Powell was given ampel opportunity to vote for a moderate, John McCain, and passed on it to vote for the most far left liberal out there, Obama. So this move by Powell was not to light a match for the torch of moderates, it was an attempt to hurt the party. Even Powells timing in order to throw his weight behind Obama was planned to once again hurt not only moderates, but the GOPs future as a party. Plain and simple, Powell is an addict, conerned only about his future, his legacy, his perception by other, and his ego. His ego redfish? Yes, his ego was badly hurt by what he perceived as a Bush lie on WMD. Whats the saying, pay back is a what? Powell wanted pay back, and he took it in the form of Barrack Obama. His goal was not to set a new direction for moderates, it was to cripple the GOP for good.
Well, now Newt wants an all inclusive club, with Powell and the rest of the rino corral. No problem, everyone is welcome, but be warned. An addict will not bring down the family because of their selfish needs. You will be asked to move out of this house before you bring it down on top of us all !!!
