America has been on a slippery slope now for several decades. Since the hippies of the 1960's and the "summer of love", that produced a generation of drug addicts and sexual promiscuity, the cultural divide in this country has broadened.
Even before the LSD-laden hippies arrived on the scene, an interesting thing happened in the early 1960's. The Supreme Court decided that God was no longer welcome in the classroom. While this may sound trivial to alot of the readers of this Op-Ed, it is farthest from it. You see, the values of the schoolroom in one generation will be the values of government in the next.
What this Supreme Court decision did was pave the way for a cultural rebellion that is still going on today around our nation. Lawsuits and actions all over the nation challenging everything that represents Christianity in all public venues. It just took one action by the Supreme Court to start the chain reaction of taking God out of America.
Pastor John Hagee said in his sermon, "When you reject the truth of God's word, the only thing left for you to believe is a lie". To put this truth in another way, "When you toss God out of the classroom, you invite Satan in". This is evident in our schools across the nation where we have school shootings, rapes, uncontrolled children, teacher/student sex, failures in education, and so forth. We have kids that graduate who cannot pass a fifth grade examination but have a diploma.
What we have is the consequences for removing God out of the classroom and allowing Satan in. The Bible states that Satan is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. By allowing Satan in the classroom, the consequences are inevitable.
Fast foward to society now. We are now faced with an American cultural crisis. Gay marriage is now legal in a handful of states. This was not even comprehendable 10 years ago and now we have almost 10% of the nation's states legalizing it. This is not good news for America. No, not at all.
You see, if we look back in Biblical history, we will find two cities, Sodom and Gommorah, who had a society that homosexuality was prevailant. God destroyed those two cities because of their sins against Him. God reached a point where He had enough of their wickedness and ended it.
The question for America is this: When will this nation reach the point where God says enough is enough? Will it be when 20% of the states turn into Sodom? When 40% turn into Gommorah? Who knows that it could be one more state legalizng gay marriage to trigger God's wrath?
No one knows exactly at what point down the road of debauchery America will have to go to incur God's total wrath but the fact is there will be a point to which it will providing she does not turn back from wickedness and return to God to whom she was founded upon.
My pastor, during this morning's service, advised the congregation, "We are ever so close to the rapture and that is true. On the other hand, we are also so close to hell as a nation." This is an interesting analogy because Christians focus alot on the rapture and wisely so. However, for those who are not ready for the rapture, this is a frightening concept because when the rapture happens, hell on earth begins.
America is already starting to reap judgement as we speak as consequences for her turned back on God. We are steadily losing our economy, our sovereignty, our security, and most everything that made this country great. This is only the appetizer for the main course if America fails to turn back to God.
Think of these things when you open up your favorite news source and see another article on the ACLU suing to remove Christianity from another public venue or another state legalizing homosexual marriage. The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. This means God's standards do not change and what God calls good and evil does not change.
The Biblical patriarch, Abraham, prayed for God to spare the two cities if there be 50 righteous people there, however none could be found...The list went down...45...40...down to 10. In each instance, there could not be found that many righteous in those two cities. Lot was the only righteous man in the two cities and was spared while God destroyed the two cities.
What is interesting is that God stated that He would spare the two cities in each instance where Abraham prayed and asked God to spare it if x amount of righteous could be found in them. In all cases, there were not sufficient righteous people and thus the judgment came upon them.
Is it possible the only reason America has not been judged is that there are millions of Christians that are here praying for our nation everyday? When the rapture happens, all these righteous people will be gone and thus the only reason God has withheld judgment on this nation for her turning her back on Him.
Just some food for thought....
