Obama hates Israel and supports Iran?
The president called the camp where an estimated 56,000 people died the "ultimate rebuke" to Holocaust deniers and skeptics. And he bluntly challenged one of them, Iranian President Ahmadinejad, to visit Buchenwald.
"These sites have not lost their horror with the passage of time," Obama said after seeing crematory ovens, barbed-wire fences, guard towers and the clock set at 3:15, marking the camp's liberation in the afternoon of April 11, 1945. "More than half a century later, our grief and our outrage over what happened have not diminished."
Buchenwald "teaches us that we must be ever-vigilant about the spread of evil in our own time, that we must reject the false comfort that others' suffering is not our problem, and commit ourselves to resisting those who would subjugate others to serve their own interests," Obama said.

Curious. For several days now the talking point was "Obama hates Israel and is laying the groundwork for a new Holocaust".
Strangely enough, this seems to rebuke all of those talking points.

It's all a part of Obama's evil plan to either sell us out to sharia law or the homosexual agenda, I can never figure out which one...

He said the appropriate thing for where he was visiting and his audience. Don't foget the consiliatory attitude he continues to convey to Iran regardless that he may refute the claim that the holacost was fake.
I did hear him say to that we had a right to be angry about an attack on the U.S. I wonder if he has the same emotional memory of 9/11 as this statement though.

Hold on there, don't declare victory before I have a chance to run a circle around you. Everything Obama says comes with a second part, a but, which you omitted.
He went on to compare the Palestinians to the Jews during the holocaust, suffering a similar plight. But the Palestinians have their problems because they want Jews dead and Israel wiped off the map. The Jews didn't want Germany wiped off the map.
Buchenwald teaches us that the Palestinians are evil, not that they are victims.

On one side, you have Obama telling the world that Iran has the right to nukes, and the Palestinians should have their own country (with Jerusalem as its capital).
On the other, Obama goes to a concentration camp and says the holocaust happened.
If Iran gets nukes, Israel will likely face nuclear holocaust.
Obama's statements today seem rather Ironic in the context of history and current events.

Well, those who say that tend to be ultra-right wing as opposed to balanced and pragmatic. There's no shades of grey for those folks, the only two options in their universe being "support Israel" or "holocaust celebrator".

Anyone that thinks Lord Obo is a "friend to Israel" is living in a different reality than the rest of us.
Ordering Israel to quickly adopt a two state solution and abandon settlements most certainly are not the actions of a "friend".

Interesting problem - should the US attempt to be an honest broker, or take Israels side in all matters, including in the breaking of agreements they've made not to expand settlements? The latter path leads to the US having no credibility with which to work in negotiating and brokering a peaceful resolution.

Got a list of all the ones we give billions to, there's your list right there , bought and paid for with borrowed funds from China. We give 8 billion to Israel alone, my entire State of Louisiana operates everything from State Police to Charity Hospital system to State Highway Dept. on less per year.

Beat me to it.
Funny how he can in one sentence say how bad the holocaust was where 11 to 17 million Jews were murdered, then go on to try and say because of the Jews, the Palestinians have suffered just as bad?
Again Obama, how many Palestinians have been killed compared to the Jews in WW2? And what did the Jews do in WW2 to cause the holocaust compared to the Pals terrorist and acts of violence causing deaths of their own people.
Smoking Jay, you need to burn another because you have been owned in your own thread.

Sure they are....sometimes you have to have an intervention with your friends. The utter recalcitrance of both parties is keeping that wound open and festering. It is time for a solution, and the two state solution is probably it.

That matters not to the "defend Israel at all costs" crowd. As far as they are concerned, everything Israel does is justified, even if it isn't. They hold the same attitude concerning Israel and anyone who says that they have made mistakes in the pasts as they do to Obama being willing to admit to the world that America isn't perfect. They think its a bad thing. Unfortunately for them, the reality is something completely different. They also seem to forget that Israel is just as guilty of having broken treaties as Palestine is, but that always goes without notice. Bottom line is that Israel needs to be willing to accept a two state answer to this. It's not like they are ever going to get rid of the Palestinians without it coming to that.

Considering the talking points were a lie, there wasn't really anything to rebuke:
America's strong bonds with Israel are well-known. This bond is unbreakable. It is based upon cultural and historical ties and the recognition that the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in a tragic history that cannot be denied.
Around the world the Jewish people were persecuted for centuries. And anti-Semitism in Europe culminated in an unprecedented holocaust. Tomorrow I will visit Buchenwald, which was part of a network of camps where Jews were enslaved, tortured, shot and gassed to death by the Third Reich.
Six million Jews were killed, more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today. Denying that fact is baseless. It is ignorant, and it is hateful.
Threatening Israel with destruction or repeating vile stereotypes about Jews is deeply wrong and only serves to evoke in the minds of the Israelis this most painful of memories while preventing the peace that the people of this region deserve.
