View Full Version : I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

NBC will premiere a new reality show called I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Monday night and will air from Monday to Thursday for a couple of weeks. It's where celebrities are dropped in the heart of the jungle and have the survival skills tested. The viewers are the puppet masters as they dictate which challenges they will perform and which celebrity will go home. They will be playing for charity, and the winner will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.
The celebrities are:
Heidi Montag
Spencer Pratt
Stephen Baldwin
John Salley
Lou Diamond Phillips
Torrie Wilson
Janice Dickinson
Sanjaya Malakar
Patti Blagojevich
I watched the last season of the show when it was on ABC a couple of years back with Melissa Rivers, Bruce Jenner, Robin Leech, etc., and it was somewhat dull.
I hope that this one will be better.

We always have at least one American on our version, we had George Takei (Sulu) on the last series, I remember Antonio Fargas (Huggy Bear) being on once...
I don't hardly watch it but it's on every night for a few weeks so you can't really miss it, you accidentally turn it on and someone you don't like has to eat insects. Now there's no way you're going to turn that off is there?....:)).....

Wow, how Lou Diamond Phillips has fallen. Late eighties early nineties he was a huge movie star. La Bamba, Young Guns, Stand and Deliver.
Reduced to reality shows with Heidi and Spencer and Sanjaya. Very sad. Question, how the hell is Rod's wife a celebrity?
And if huggy bear and george takei were involved, it was television gold!

Rod was originally supposed to be on the show, but the courts ruled that he can't leave the country.

the real reason Blago was impeached is because he refused to play the political games with Springfield-ie Madigan. I am not defending him but he is not any more guilty than most politicians. His big crime was his arrogance and how he did this in such a brazen open manner. He did do some wonderful things for the children of Illinois- and he did keep his promise about not raising our income tax which his successor wasted no time in saying had to be done. He wants to raise our income tax by 50% so they can balance the budget - a budget that has a 6% increase in government spending and an increase in the state workforce! Say what you want about Rod but he did keep his promise NOT to raise income tax!

I watched about 15 minutes of the show... that was all I could take. Why the hell didn't somebody deck that obnoxious Spencer guy... what a rube... who the hell is he anyway? I never heard of him or his prima donna wife Heidi.
I ended up watching the History Channel reenactment of the Stanley expedition instead. The self appointed butt-headed leader of that group is also hard to endure, but at least the situations are real and it may prove to be interesting and informational.

She said she coined the term "supermodel" so that makes her the first supermodel. :)):)) I guess that passes for supermodel logic.
I'm sure there were wildly popular models ages before (I think I read somewhere that Ethel Barrymore, when she was a very young woman, was a hugely popular model!)....but for my money, Janice doesn't even come close to "The Shrimp" (Jean Shrimpton, famous in the 60's, especially for her Yardley's of London ads). I'll bet The Shrimp looks a lot better than Janice, now, too.

I heard on the radio the other day (on the way to work) that the head of NBC said that those two Pratt brats were "everything that is wrong with America."
*LOL* Okay, that's bad enough, but apparently one of the charities that they are playing for (I think it was the one Spencer is playing for) called the producers of the show and told them to take their name completely OFF ANYTHING to do with the show. They did not want their charity associated with those two in any way, shape, or form.
That's bad, when a charity would rather get no money than have your name associated with them...*LOL*

Problems for NBC?
'The Hills' starlet Heidi Pratt was abused by NBC to the point she was "convulsively throwing up" and developed a gastric ulcer on the set of "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here," TMZ.com reported.
Pratt claimed she was confined to a dark room for over 24 hours and fed only water, rice, and beans after she and husband, Spencer Pratt, decided to leave the show, the Web site reported Sunday.
One cast member reportedly told TMZ that the two were treated like detainees at "Guantanamo Bay."
Heidi Pratt was transported to a hospital — where she was diagnosed with a gastric ulcer — after being held overnight in the dark room, according to TMZ. Her husband plans to sue NBC over the show, the Web site also reported.

Okay...so I admit to watching the marathon re-cap of week 1 yesterday on MTV...all I can say is Holy Crap :))
Let me start off by saying I am all for anybody doing stuff for charities...and I really like John Salley...so I find this show not nearly as offensive to the stomache as I thought it was going to be.
I am a competitor...so I like watching shows where people compete against each other in events...as opposed to competition with judging. I like seeing who's character shows through during these kind of competitions.
That being said......Spencer is a major ********* and needs to be slapped around a bit.

I've decided those two are not just attention whores, but two young people desperately crying out for SOMEONE to give them a reality check. Okay, so during a commercial break in anything else I was watching, I turned to this show when they were doing some stunt where the kid who was on American Idol was chained in a chamber that filled up with water and amphibians and reptiles and suchlike and he had to grope around for the keys to unlock himself before something or other happened.
And I thought:
A) This is the sort of entertainment presented by the community that is so vehemently opposed to waterboarding?
B) This scenario would make a great sequel to "Tropic Thunder" - instead of actors thinking they are on a set when they're really in the jungle, have them allegedly in the jungle, but really on an elaborate set - sort of an equatorial Capricorn One.
