I think those were some of the drug cartel militants who was engaging kidnapping and fire fights with the federal troops lately at some border towns.

The Zetas are some bad bad bad bad guys. They make MS13 look like choir boys in comparison.

Why are you asking? What is the point of this thread?

There's a good rundown on Los Zetas at http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/26/fbi-warns-of-cartel-arming/

They're mostly Mexican ex-military special forces who found that being enforcers for the infamous Gulf Drug Cartel was more lucrative.

Not only did they find being enforcers for the Gulf Cartel more lucrative, they found that RUNNING the Gulf Cartel, after a power vacuum even more lucrative.

Most of these guys have School of the America's training before they sold their souls.......bad, bad, bad boys!

Furthermore, they actually run their own TRAINING camps for new non-prior military members, such as street punks recruited to be assassins......they train them in small arms tactics, CQB, explosives, surveillance, counter-surveillance, assassination, etc, etc. etc....

They should be pretty bad as a lot of them were trained by U.S. special forces inside the U.S.

Zetas are mainly drug mercenaries, and Ms13 are a bunch of thugs who rape and rob people.
