That is horrible!

Why, though, did the journalist use one sentence in an isolated one-sentence paragraph which said this:

The officer who fired the gun is white; Edwards was black.

The news story makes it sound like the officer jumped out of his car and started firing without ascertaining what was going on.

No matter what it is a tragedy and my heart goes out to the loved ones of the slain officer.

Read the whole article - The next sentence said "Kelly said investigators would try to determine if that played a role in the friendly-fire tragedy."

If its part of the investigation then its a legit part of the news. Kelly's statement would have made no sense if context had not been established by the reporter by explaining that one man was white and the other was black.

Totally senseless.

Even if the guy was a criminal, why was it ok to shoot him in the back as he fled?

It alwasy tragic when we lose a brother, but this one hits close to home especially.

My prayers are with the family of the slain officer and my thoughts are with the officer who was involved in the discharge of his firearm.

I'd hate to be involved in the rollercoaster of emotions Im sure he is enduring.

Sarcasm on.

BIAS?

Nah, couldn't be.

A news reporter with an agenda?

Perish the thought.

Sarcasm off.

From what I read he wasn't fleeing, he was confronting another man with a gun in his hand.

These situations are a lot more complicated and chaotic than on TV.......unfortunately cops don't have benefit of multiple camera angles, stage lighting, foreshadowing and back story........so it's hard to tell what happened until all the details are in.

I feel bad for both men and their families. Both will be in my prayers tonight.
