Did anyone stick around after "American Idol" last night to watch "Glee"?

I thought it was a REALLY good show and I'm looking forward to the fall season when it runs its regular course. If last night was bait...I'm hooked, and I can't wait for September.

I have seen a few previews, and I saw probably the last 10 minutes of the show. I'll consider giving it a chance.

I don't watch Idol, though, so I'll have to set an alarm or something ...

It's going to be on Wednesdays at 9, starting September 10th (probably pre-empted in October for baseball). In the fall, it gets "So You Think You Can Dance" as a lead-in, and in the spring it gets "American Idol".

Someone at Fox must LOVE Ryan Murphy.

That's a good slot for my likes.

As long as it's not on Monday during Heroes or Tuesday during NCIS, I'm definitely game for giving it a chance. I was in a mega-nerd glee-club-like thing in high school, so it'll be interesting to see how similar it is. :)

So they trotted out the season premiere last night, and WOW.

Season Pass is now set, crush on Jayma Mays is now firmly established, and I am constantly amazed at how high Jane Lynch continues to set the bar.

They're going to re-run the episode tomorrow night at 9 pm (after "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader), but the re-runs will stop on 9/25 (when Dollhouse returns).

Love this show, highly recommend it to anyone who just wants to see something fun.

We're hooked. The DVR season pass is set.

The titles of the pamphlets in Emma's office were hilarious. But I am kind of surprised the gag reflex joke made it past the censors.

And Jane Lynch deserves a show of her own. Immediately.

Wife EXPLODED on the gag reflex joke. I didn't even catch it at first it went by so quick, but I rewound to re-check the pamphlet titles ("Divorce: Why Your Parents Stopped Loving You" and "I Can't Stop Touching Myself" :)) :)) ) and did an absolute spit-take.

You mean Kurt being gay? I thought it was hysterical. I took it as parody. That last scene where Mercedes told him to have the courage to tell people he's gay was so funny. Everyone but Mercedes knows Kurt is gay just by looking at him. I thought that was the joke so I didn't take it seriously. Great episode tonight. Loved Jane Lynch and Victor Garber! Josh Groban was wonderful. This show is so much fun.

It is OK. Wish it were more of a family show. I wouldn't let young kids watch it at all. They could have made it just as good had they left out the sexual stuff, but then that would require some real creativity and a good writing staff, something hard to find. Oh, and we can't forget to push the left political agenda in the show as well. That gets so tedious and boring.

It's high school...it's not designed for young kids, so you're right...they shouldn't be watching it.

And high school kids both know about and have sex...a high school show, set in a public school, without sex is just unrealistic.

They original concept was that it would be a family show. It is not. I guess I am glad that my nieces and nephews did not and will not go to public school if that is an example of how public high school students and teachers act. I know my nieces will conduct themselves with class----bumping and grinding and simulating sex acts in a dance really isn't something most parents would want their teens to do. I wouldn't let a high-schooler watch it for many reasons.

Just a few:

Bulimic girl told that having no gag reflex will," be a good thing to have later on." Simulated oral sex during dance sequence. Sex act repeatedly simulated during dance sequence. Pamphlet titles that laugh at bipolar and bulimia among other probelms. Celibate girls portrayed as mean spirited teases. Christians portrayed as ridiculous hypocrites.

Typical formulaic lefty script. Predictable and boring.

Glee is a good show, in ways its realistic and parts of it is fantasy.I mean the single ladies song during the football game is cute, but that won't happen in real life. I am now in my 2nd year of college and I know high school changed a lot. Sex is everywhere in high school both private and public. What bothers me about the show is the lip synching. BAD. Its too obvious for me.

I do like the show, but some of the things happening lately in it are over the top. While amusing, the whole football thing is ridiculous. First of all.... the kicker. No way would he have enough time to do all that dance ritual stuff before a defensive lineman planted him to the ground. Then, the dance routine that the players did.... ever hear of delay of game penalties?? illegal motion?? false starts?? All of those would have been called on that last play. Like I said.... I do like the show, but it would be nice if they attempted to keep it partially based in reality.

And I also agree with Buffalo, in that some of the plot lines are taking a Deperate Housewives sort of approach... especially the pregnant cheerleader telling one guy that he's the dad (and he's evidently stupid enough to believe that sperm will swim through the hot tub and impregnate her), while actually getting knocked up by mohawk guy during a drunk. THEN.... you have the wife of the instructor who has lied this whole time about being pregnant, seeing this as some sort of opportunity to get this girl to give her baby up to them.

The show needs more singing, and less of all the other crap.

I think you're taking it a bit too seriously. It's meant to be over the top. It's a satire of high school/high school movies. Most of the characters are blatant stereotypes. Sassy big black girl, flamboyant gay kid, quiet Asian, dumb jock, wheel chair kid. Think of it as a live action South Park.

Good thing is they're getting a full season to work out the kinks. It's early, and I'm going to give the show time to grow before I start getting too critical.

Yeah... it's a work in progress. At first, it looked as if Rachel was the only one that could really sing, but I think that gradually, we will see the other characters display their talents as well. We've already seen Mercedes and Tina show their stuff in recent weeks.

So far, the only ones I KNOW are not singing are the two girls who were the "backup singers" when Quinn did her tryout for glee club. I read somewhere that the showrunners didn't want to cast too many people who couldn't sing, which is why they've got three people with extensive stage experience (Kurt, Will and Rachel) rather than more established star types. It's also why Kristin Chenoweth is guest-starring this week.

I thought last night's episode was the strongest since the pilot.

I love that one of the cheerleaders cheats off the kid with Down's Syndrome's math tests.

Just got Vol 1 of the soundtrack. The best CD to sing along to in the car if you don't care what people think about you- and I don't! I think I am in love. :)

I loved this line...

"Some of us aren't really into baking. I, for one, don't understand recipes"

Great episode last night...show keeps improving.

Again, I don't want to spoil too much, but I learned that a "ballad" is a male duck and that the square root of 4 is "rainbows".

Also, that Gary Puckett can be mixed with the Police and it can work.

The one thing about the show that I did not like last night was when Mercedes told Puck to back off after he revealed to her that he was the real father. She must think it's ok for Quinn to run Finn through this emotional roller coaster for no other reason than being selfish. I know all this is going on for the sake of story development, but get on with it... let that damned cat out of the bag !!

I'm betting it will come out later in the season. Either during February sweeps or towards the season finale.

Great episode. Loved the mashed-up song of Don't Stand So Close to Me and Young Girl.

Loved that episode! The Rachel crush part hit close to home and it was fun to laugh about it now that high school was almost 6 years ago. I had a huge crush on my psychology teacher.

Actually had coffee with him last weekend and we ended up laughing about it.
