Talking Points Memo (http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/05/bunning-mcconnell-is-a-control-freak.php)
"Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY), who has openly accused his party leadership of trying to force him into retirement -- especially his Kentucky co-Senator, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell -- is making it clear just how much he personally detests McConnell.
In a conference call with reporters, the Louisville Courier-Journal reports, Bunning declared that McConnell is a "control freak," and responded strongly to the leader's refusal to endorse Bunning's re-election this past weekend on Fox News Sunday.
Said Bunning: "If Mitch McConnell doesn't endorse me, it could be the best thing that ever happened to me in Kentucky.""
It would seem that McConnell drew "First Blood". As Senator Bunning said, Mitch McConnell don't like being told NO! When McConnell insisted that Bunning "get on board" with the Bush bank bail-outs and Bunning flatly refused (because his constituents told him to) then McConnell decided it was time for Bunning to go.
Well Mr. McConnell YOU do NOT decide when a politician leaves office, We the People do!
Come 2014 Kentuckians WILL decide that YOU must go regardless of how many millions your pour into the campaign. If the Democrats would have run even a marginal candidate McConnell would have lost in 2008.
Humility is a gift, one that McConnell doesn't seem to possess. McConnell is destroying the Grand Ole Party with his failed leadership. I would rather have a brash honest conservative like Bunning than a turn coat like McConnell, anyday (political class be danged).
