Starting out stating categorically that I mistrust Governor Pawlenty and find him one of the most weasely squish RINOs out there, he simply must be given credit for taking the state's budgetary bull by the balls and balancing Minnesnowta's budget, when the legislature dithered and waffled their way to the end of their session.
Rather than call a special session where the dems (DFL) can dither and waffle some more, he has decided to exercise his constitutional prerogative to balance the state's budget, line-item-by-line-item.

That said, the cynic in me says that he most likely wouldn't have taken this route, were he not one of the RP's reputed "up-and-comers".
