These are the same People who Worshop Cows, Correct?...
If these "Farmers" Killed themselves over not being able to Provide for their own Children, while Worshiping Food, instead of Eating Food...
Then I Pray for their Children.
And may God have Mercy on thier Souls.

it says that "many deaths occur due to debt and economic distress"
That may mean you have enough to eat to live but the debt collectors are threatening to take your kids (not sure how the law works there).
I have read of several cases here in the new world where people have lost it and killed their whole family over economic stress, and I suspect that they would have no issue with eating a big mac to stay alive.
So if people here are giving up then I would guess that those with a littler rougher life may do the same even if they did eat a steak.

Hindus DO NOT worship cows. A cow is considered a sacred animal because it gives you everything you need. Most Hindus are vegetarians across the board except in coastal communities where fish is also eaten.
I don't eat beef, but I don't worship cows either. We worship all as a part of Brahman.

What can it possibly give you if you don't touch it? Milk? Or it only gives you something on a spiritual level?
If your children are starving, you need something from that cow on a physical level.

....
That means that the debt collectors are going to sell the children into slavery to get their money.
This is a society that has no welfare. There are too many poor and no one to help them. Their children would have become slaves (girls usually become sex slaves. Young boys often suffer this same fate). The adults would have starved to death. That is the reality these people were facing. I can understand why they could do it.
People in the USA do not understand the harsh realities many in the world face even today.

Let's say that they kill the few cows the are around the village. So they eat for a few days. After that what? They still have the same situation.

In my Opinion, their Treatment of Food, the Cow, is Exactly that... Worship.

Where in the story does it say that; and how does the death of the parent prevent it if your allegation is true? :eh:

Like Gabby said- the meat from a cow can feed your family for a week or so; the milk from it is good for years and years.
Gau- the Sanskrit word for cow also has two meanings- the animal Cow and Senses (from the soul). The early Indian settlements saw that the cow had so many uses given from Gaya that they forbid the killing of the cow.
It is a social creature that many Indians treat as pets as well as a life source. It's much like if you got milk from your dog or cat.

In my opinion partaking in the sacrament is akin to celebrating cannibalism. Lucky for Catholics , they do not base there religious views on my thoughts, thus my opinion on what or how they act is completely irrelevant. This is much the same as how your opinion on how Hindu people act is completely irrelevant.

I don't have an issue with what ever it is you personally think, or your complete irrelevance to other peoples religious beliefs. I was simply making a counter point to your post. That point being that Hindu people probably don't really care what you think about how they treat cows, much the same way Catholics probably don't really care what I think about the sacrament.

If you mean khigh and his posts in this thread, it seems he is more interested in correcting your ignorant misconceptions of what it is to be Hindu rather than caring about your opinions.

I recall a plethora of suicides of failed day-traders in this country. (Several cases were the suicide was preceded by murdering several of their fellow trader at their computers.
