Hi. I'm a 28 year old, living in Houston, TX. Thanks for answering questions! I guess my main question is this: why aren't they doing more? While watching CSPAN yesterday, Senator McCain was very firm with Schuchat (CDC) and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, insisting they tell him why we wouldn't consider temporarily closing borders and why they aren't doing more (thermal scans, etc). It seemed both Scuchat and Napolitano gave very "round about," answers, trying to avoid the question. Finally, John McCain pinned them down enough to get them to admit under NO circumstances would they close the border. They are insisting that "the flu is already in the US," and continuing to allow the 800,000+ people to cross the border, daily, won't increase the spread of the disease. They kept saying their charts and graphs of a model they made in 2007 (for a hypothetical pandemic) gave them this data. John McCain was unhappy with this answer, and I am too! Reading further, I notice that cities such as my city (Houston), and others, such as San Francisco, are allowing huge Cinco De Mayo Festivals to go on this weekend- hundreds are flying and driving in from Mexico for the celebration. It just doesn't make sense. Obama's camp is holding tons of news conferences and interviews, warning Americans of the danger of "Swine Flu," and yet even John McCain can't get the CDC and Homeland Security to tell us why they aren't doing more. Something smells funny with this. And on the news yesterday, they showed a massive US owned pig farm in Mexico, next to where they are calling "ground zero." Apparently, there has been no sick swine anywhere in the facility- at least that's what the facilities are telling us, and we are taking their word for it? I am NOT a conspiracy theorist, and consider myself pretty conservative, but this is a mess, that seems to just keep getting messier, and sadly, the world's health is at risk. But I'm with John McCain- if this is so serious- why aren't we doing more?

Who ever survives will vote for whoever saves them?

Initially, it seems to make sense to close the borders, ban travel to Mexico, etc.

The reality is that it's being blown way out of proportion. It's not the epidemic that the media is trying to make it out to be.

Why isn't Texas and Southern California screaming and hollering? They have the infection as their neighbor!

Why doesn't Mexico close its borders since it's polluting the world with this flu?

Oh yeah, Mexico doesn't want to close the borders, they're looking forward to voting in the next Presidential Election...

Actually we should have done more when we first received notice of the bug. but you have liberals running the arena and their thoughts are it's here already, nothing we can do about it, so let's keep what economy we have going until people start dying. Keep safe and in healthy envrionment and everything will be ok. We have 2010 to look forward to stop some of this incompatence we are having to deal with.

I wonder if Obama's kids are still going to school or are allowed to run freely at a mall, say for instance the Houston Mall (Galleria)?

That would have been insensitive and PROFILING.

Better to be PC and liked than defend the country and be unpopular.

just 3 years and 264 more days to go!

How many people in the world have died from the regular flu in the time since this hysteria has started?

5th of may celebrations are so incredibly stupid.

Hey guys let us all move to Canada and have a bunch of 4th of July parades in Quebec!

Seriously, if those idiots want to celebrate Mexico's independence so much why the hell can't they go back there.

Because for the ruling class, collateral damage to American citizens is an acceptable risk to continue the free trade in goods and people that exists at our southern border.
