I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate...

So, Specter is unwilling to have his record judged by the people who stood behind him and kept him in office for 30 years??
O.K. dems.....Let's say you're hiring a new employee and interviewed someone who said; "Yeah, I got fired for being a crappy employee, but who are you going to believe...me or the people who kept me on the job for the last 30 years".
Now, tell me again how happy you are to have this hack on your team.

There's that, too.
Crappy employee coming from a clueless employer still doesn't speak too well for the old geezer in any case.

He won't allow himself to be subject to the vote of people from his own party? Excuse me?
Only a month ago, pollsters sensed that Specter would have a tough time of it if Toomey - who lost to him narrowed in '04 - got into the race. Two weeks ago, Pat Toomey, a conservative Republican got into the race, and rather than face him in the primary, Specter jumps the fence.

Personally, I think it's about time that RINO finally wore the correct suit.
And the rest of the RINOs need to do the same. Let the people that put them into office decide if they really want party of philosophy to decide their elections.

wait, wha? That was ok for him to do for the past 29 years as long as he was in power but now that they want him out he says this.....
wow, yeah he is EXACTLY why we have the problems in this country that we do. Institutionalized power fed by narcissistic beliefs.
